Re: Class of 2017 - slide - 11-24-2016

a preview of the game from Georgia High School Football Daily:

Greater Atlanta Christian at Liberty County
When, where: 6:30 p.m. Friday, Donell Woods Stadium, Hinesville
Records, rankings: Greater Atlanta Christian is 11-1, the No. 1 seed from Region 7-AAA and No. 1; Liberty County is 11-1, the No. 1 seed from 2-AAA and No. 7.
Last meeting: This is the teams' first meeting.
Things to know: This game pits the state's top two prospects, according to 247Sports' composite rankings. GAC QB Davis Mills (committed to Stanford) is No. 1. Liberty WR/DB Richard LeCounte (Georgia) is No. 2. Mills was 24-of-27 passing for 260 yards in a 34-21 win over Worth County last week. Brooks Buce kicked field goals of 47 and 52 yards. Although LeCounte is Liberty's best all-around player, QB Jaalon Frazier is having a brobdingnagian year. He has rushed for 1,171 yards (including 120 in a 28-14 win over Sonoraville last week) and passed for 2,723 and 40 touchdowns. Neither school has won a football state title, although GAC has been in five semifinals and two finals. This is Liberty's first quarterfinal.
Maxwell Ratings' projection: Greater Atlanta Christian by 14
Winner plays: Peach County/Westminster winner

Game will probably be a shootout. Should be a fun one to watch.

Hey, maybe I'll go, Only a four hour drive. :)

Re: Class of 2017 - slide - 11-24-2016

unless you live on Fort Stewart, there is no easy way to Hinesville.  and coming from your direction, you'd better eat in Valdosta or you are shut out until Waycross.

Re: Class of 2017 - JohnR34231 - 11-24-2016

The only time I've ever driven four hours to go to as HS football game was to Orlando when my kids were playing. Think I'll just follow this one on the internet.

for the season, 40 TDs and 0 Ints (40 TDs and 1 INT -- the 1 INT is in dispute on a couple of sites).

Re: Class of 2017 - Hurlburt88 - 11-25-2016

I know it's High School, but WOW!  Does anyone have similar TD/INT stats for our other QB's, or other notable QB prospects going to other schools?

Re: Class of 2017 - JohnR34231 - 11-25-2016

I'll leave it to the stat freaks to do it in depth, but Dylan McCaffrey's are 29 TD's and 5 INT's.

Re: Class of 2017 - OutsiderFan - 11-25-2016

Don't know where 40-1 TD to INT is coming from, but Max Preps has a still impressive 29-1 for Mills:

I think Mills is as good a prospect as Luck was, and maybe even a bit better.

Other Stanford QBs:
Costello: http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/kj-costello/-foFsPTpEeKZ5AAmVebBJg/gendersport/football-stats.htm

Looks like wrong reference for Costello. Actual were 18 and 9.

Just for reference Josh Rosen's were 29 and 4

Re: Class of 2017 - DC 86 - 11-25-2016

As a HS senior, Jake Browning threw for 91 TD and 7 interceptions.

Obviously the range of high school competition is extremely wide, which combined with whether coaches elect to pad numbers in lopsided games renders statistical comparisons as almost meaningless.

Browning is clearly an outlier. Does that necessarily lead to the conclusion that statistical comparisons are meaningless? Not sure it does.

pulled from a local paper.  the 1 INT came up on stats in a game where Mills didn't throw an INT.

tough 1st half for Mills.  13-22 for 163, 1 TD.  5 carries for 25 yards, 1 TD.  tied 14-14 at half.

haven't found video.

Re: Class of 2017 - JohnR34231 - 11-25-2016

14-14 at the end of the third quarter so things haven't gotten any better. Hope GAC can pull it out.

Oh, oh now 21-14 Liberty County. Hope Mills can lead them back.

Now 21-21. Sorry I'm missing this one.

Re: Class of 2017 - slide - 11-25-2016

td pass from Mills to Sloan has tied the game at 21.

Re: Class of 2017 - JohnR34231 - 11-25-2016

24-21 Liberty County with Mills having the chance to lead them on a last gasp drive.

24-24 game going into OT. Whoa.

Re: Class of 2017 - slide - 11-25-2016

1st and goal on the 9.  FG.

Re: Class of 2017 - JohnR34231 - 11-25-2016

Turning into a real nail biter. Liberty County scores in OT, but Mills ties it up with a TD pass.

Mills throws another TD pass and GAC is up by a TD in OT.

Re: Class of 2017 - slide - 11-25-2016

GAC wins in 3OT.  waiting for more details.

Re: Class of 2017 - JohnR34231 - 11-25-2016

Mills ended up with what, five TD passes? Not bad.
