Tonight will be interesting. A&M will almost surely turn to Nathan Dettmer who was their Friday night starter much of the year but was demoted after a rough May and hasn’t pitched in this regional yet. He may not be ace caliber at the moment but he appears to be a solid option under the circumstances.
For Stanford, it’s going to be a piecemeal, all hands on deck approach. My guess is Lopez will get some innings and maybe the start as he hasn’t pitched in the first four games. After that, Matt Scott should be good for a couple innings, Bruno should be good for an inning or two late and the wild card is Quinn and whether he has anything left in the tank after throwing seven on Friday.
I’d definitely give the edge to A&M with Dettmer at this point but my post yesterday counting this team out was premature. Hopefully they finish the job and prove me wrong yet again.

Running down issues on this thread over the weekend:
Bowser is currently exactly where he has been all season. He has power and quite a few clutch hits, but also swings at a lot of bad pitches, strikes out a lot (leads the team with 70, #2 is Montgomery with 56), and has the lowest batting average of any of our main hitters. He is currently at 0.274, where he has basically been all season. He was briefly above 0.300 in early April but hasn't been so since 4/8. Really, that isn't such a terrible BA for a power hitter but it pales compared to the rest of the lineup.
Cobb has been a defensive liability all season. As I wrote previously, in some ways he is the anti-Adam Cramption: he makes quite a few spectacular plays but misses far too many routine plays. His offense has been consistently good with a little power: he is fourth on the team in batting average and has never had two hitless games in a row. He should walk more often as his OB% could be better. Some of the comments above would seem to impy that Cobb playing has kept Crampton II on the bench. I don't see it, though I do think Becera has shown some nice potential despite the two pop ups he couldn't corral last night.
Trevor Haskins had mono then an injury and never really got into any kind of groove this year. His average is 0.083 with two hits on the year. I don't think he has an appearance since mid-April. I don't think he came on strong late last season so much as having a single extremely memorable hit to win the regional. He only had 14 at bats on the year. Still, I think the staff believes he has a lot of potential and I hope will be one of the guys that emerges next year.
We saw a flash of what Montgomery could have been as a pitcher had he concentrated there. For two innings he was great and the hitters looked over-matched. He probably should have come out after two full innings, but of course the coaches were trying to squeeze every out they could out of any pitcher available.
For tonight, I think the only pitcher off the table is Dugan, who pitched something like 110 pitches in two games yesterday - and may Dixon who threw 115 pitches on Saturday. [Dugan was not only fantastic yesterday, he also had a very good outing in the lost to Oregon in the Pac Tournament. That's a nice sign for the future.]
I don't expect to see much of the two bullpen arms who haven't appeared yet. Lopez in his last four starts lasted 0.0, 0.0, 0.1 and 0.2 innings. Not sure I have seen him even warm up yet in the regional. Moore has warmed up a few times but has struggled all season. If we see them I suspect it will either be for a batter or two - or complete desperation.
Who we see the most depends on who can be effective, but I suspect we'll see Matthews, Dowd, Bruno, Scott, Pancer, Meier (roughly in order of how many innings I expect would be planned from each).
I suspect Matthews starts.

I agree Matthews probably starts. Ideally, he can give us three solid innings. Then, if we win tonight, probably start him on Saturday in the Supers and have Dixon go on Friday. That is, of course, if we don't use Dixon tonight or use him for only a handful of batters.

Dettmer mixing speeds and locations effectively. Keeping Stanford hitters off balance. Doesn't look like a guy with a 6.20 ERA. Stanford pitchers really struggle to throw off speed pitches for strikes.
