According to Rivals, Beau Bisharat has an offer from Yale. Just a guess, but I'm thinking that Yale is as selective academically for football offers as Stanford. But someone else on the CARDBoard must know better than I.

We hear stories of the Ivies being a lot more forgiving of athletics' academic shortcomings than Stanford is -- but it's anecdotal.

Rivals came out with a new top 100 this morning. Curtis Robinson is #33 overall and Kaden Smith is # 43 overall. Costello slid from #25 to #27.Â
A couple of tidbits about the new rankings:
--Florida State has 5 commits in the Top 50. Stanford is next with 3 in the Top 50. Several schools have 2.
--As of now, Rivals has 25 5-star recruits. Rivals eventually rated 34 recruits as 5-star in 2015 and 33 recruits as 5-star in 2014. That means Stanford currently has no 5-star commits, but could easily end up with 2-3.

Since the Ivies (technically anyway) don't give athletic scholarships, I'm not sure just what the meaning of an "offer"is. Perhaps "we'd like you to come play football for us, so if you apply and are accepted, we'll consider you for need based financial help".
Supposedly the Ivies are a little looser on the requirements for need based financial help for athletes than non-athletes, but again that's anecdotal.

Hi all. I ran into Coach Shaw this weekend at a kids flag football game (his son was opposite mine). I hated to be 'that guy' pestering him at family event but i couldn't entirely help myself and talked a bit about Stanford Football. I asked him why they are off to such a fast start on recruiting vs. other years. He said the primary reason was due to the number of folks with great academic results/focus, i.e. rich pickings. In my defense, I only asked him that question and one other general comment about Duane Akina and his positive impact on recruiting DB's.
We did have an interesting discussion about letting your kid play football in today's concussion sensitive environment.
Anyway, just thought i would share.

Well, having had two sons go through the Ivy recruiting process, let me assure you that an "offer," complete with financial aid assurances is a standard process. Every athletic team has a number of slots for which they must attract recruits. The coaches in each sport lead the recruiting. They vet the student, academics and all, and employ an administrator to liaise with admissions. The outcome is what is known as a "likely letter." Paraphrased, it essentially states that if you don't turn into a discipline problem, don't drop any classes and keep your grades more or less up, your odds of admission are assured. The athletes (and other recruited students) apply to the respective schools in their early admissions process in October. My son's likely letter arrived in the third week of October. And the financial aid packages, at least for Harvard, Yale and Princeton are in the same vein as Stanford's.
On a side note, however, one of the other three Ivies listed here treated my son as the rough equivalent of a recruited walk-on. They were only allowed two recruits annually, and that year they needed five players because five players were graduating. They were losing their two starting middle hitters, so they were allocating their two spots for middles. My son was an outside hitter, but they continued to recruit volleyball players to fill out their roster. The coach told him he would advocate for him with admissions. He implied that the odds were probably in the neighborhood of 60%. My son declined the assistance and accepted Princeton's offer. And sure enough, the other school recruited three more players, one of them almost a carbon copy of my older son (shortish outside hitter, big leaper, good passer, cannonball serve, a bit like Stanford's Jake Kneller).

Stanford requires the writing part, but since this is all self-reported there are decent odds that people are simply reporting the two-part since that's the way people think about SATs still.
But that's definitely a solid two-part or unacceptable three-part, so knowing which it actually is completely informs how to think about it.

SAT is going back to two part scores in 2016. So two part scores will return soon enough. I think he will be in the last class that will routinely use three part scores. If he is at 3.4 with 1450 on a two part, then there are no worries. And that is an AMAZING score for a D1 football player. If he is at 3.4 with a 1450 on a three part, then I wonder if the early verbal was a good idea.
The article was written as if 1450 was impressive, so perhaps that is the two part score.

Wouldn't a 3.4 GPA be pretty low for someone with a 1450 two part? Either he's not fulfilling his potential in the classroom or he just does exceptional standardized testing.

17th on the 247Sports Composite. As others have pointed out the number to watch is the average rating due to our lower attrition rate. In that regard, we rank 5th on the 247Sports Composite, and just ahead of Ohio State and ahead of Alabama.

I think my HS GPA was around there and I got a 1590. Classes were mostly boring busywork or pointless projects until we got into the AP stuff.
I've mentioned before that I have no idea how I got into Stanford, I think they must have completely disregarded everything before my Junior year.

Do any of these recruiting sites allow sorting by avg. star rating? If not, does someone on this board know of a good way to share this data here? A spreadsheet could do it, but is there any other alternative.

Interesting Twitter conversation last night between KJ Costello, Curtis Robinson and a couple of prospects.

Dcraw would be Dylan Crawford, Costello's classmate and a consensus 4-star WR at Santa Margarita Catholic. Theo Howard, an Oregon 4-star WR commit from Westlake in SoCal, then replied with an emoji that I don't comprehend. Both Robinson and Costello replied to Howard encouraging him to flip to Stanford.
Rivals doesn't show Howard with a Stanford offer, but I am curious to know what chance we have of landing Crawford. He has offers from just about every Pac-12 school, Michigan, ND, Tennessee, Miami, etc.
