This is the thread formerly titled "MLB thread" that was about 90% a major league trivia thread and maybe 10% a Giants thread. I got a request to split the two threads, leaving one thread (this one, subsequently renamed to "Sports Trivia thread") to be the trivia thread, and a separate thread (
https://thecardboard.org/board/showthread.php?tid=21717) to be a Giants thread.
I didn't have it in me to manually curate all the posts and decide which one went to which thread, but since most of the Giants stuff was older, it was probably less relevant.

ChRlie O’Connell coach and star of the Bay Area Bombers smoked in the infield when the women were out on the track in alternate periods.
Three old rivalries:
SI/SH
Commerce SF/Lowell
Palo Alto/Sequoia
What is the oldest HS in California?
What is the oldest public HS west of the Mississippi?
What is the oldest high school in California operating on the same plot of land it occupied at its inception?

However some writers believe that Dom was the equal of Willie Mays in CF. Another two years hitting .300 probably would have gotten him in the Hall.
It's interesting, WWII shortened DiMaggio's career and lengthened Waner's career. DiMaggio was a young man, 25 when WWII started and he lost three seasons to the war. Lloyd Waner was old and in effective, but the war took so many players like DiMaggio, Waner actually played a few more years than his diminished skills would otherwise have warranted. DiMaggio was an all-star in 1952, then only received a few ABs in 1953, retiring on 5/9 rather than be a part time player. None of the three BoSox outfielders in 1953 were as good as DiMaggio had been the prior year. DiMaggio's career average of 2.98 putouts a game remains the career standard for A.L. outfielders. Writer David Halberstam referred to DiMaggio as "the most underrated player of his day."

I think Bellarmine is the oldest high school west of Missouri, at least that's how they bill themselves. it used to be part of the Santa Clara College complex.

4 for 10 so far.
New question... Thirteen players have won consecutive MYP's. Bonds did it twice including four in a row from 2001-04. The others all won only two in a row but only one bookended his awards with second place finishes in the year before the first and the year after the second. Who?
RE: Sports trivia thread -
BostonCard - 03-23-2021
Jimmie Fox? He won it again several years after his two consecutive wins.
