I don't know if there is a trend toward football players getting better GPAs, but it sure seems that way to me.  Maybe it's grade inflation or AP proliferation.  Maybe kids now realize that football is a long shot for a career plan.  Whatever the cause, there are a bunch of 4.0+ GPA kids on Stanford's board this year.  Of the current commits, Costello, C. Robinson, and Antoine report stratospheric GPAs.  Of the kids Stanford still has a good shot at landing, R. Robinson, Butler, Fehoko, and Pryts report 4.0 or better GPAs, plus McCulloch reports a 3.875 GPA (5th out of 796 in his class).  But GPA isn't a perfect predictor for who will end up choosing Stanford.  McKinley, Imatorbhebhe, and Okonya all report 4.0+ GPAs and have eliminated Stanford.  Still, overall, this year had a very impressive pool.

That would be great, Publius.  I loved Touchdown Tommy.  But, honestly, there must be additional stuff that brings him to mind - like wishful thinking maybe? - otherwise, I'd bring Touchdown Tommy to mind.  :D

Assuming that his 1450 refers to the current 2400 max 3R's (Reading, Riting and Rithmatic, for those of us who are a certain age....) I wouldn't expect him to be admitted.  Or are our academic standards for our football recruits THAT much lower than for the rest of the admitees?

Hey, that's a great idea. Maybe we can somehow convince the Admissions Department they haven't.


I believe a 1450 SAT three part corresponds to a sub 1000 two part. While not unheard of, it is extremely rare for us to get a student athlete through admissions with that kind of score.

Bottom line, Beau better get his three part up to the 1700-1800 range or he may end up as a Duck after all.

No athlete would be accepted if that's 3 part.  And not even close if non FB.
