Re: Class of 2015 - OutsiderFan - 08-02-2014

Well that sounds a lot different than your previous post on the topic.  It's a far cry between "he's likely not going to end up at Stanford" and "he's coming if admitted, it will be close, like it was with his brother."

The former suggests some inside knowledge about a kid's grades and test scores, etc.  The latter is passing on information that has been reported elsewhere.

Frankly, I'm more curious as to why you think Green is a real possibility.  He didn't go to either Stanford camp this Summer did he?

Green was on campus during spring and finished the semester with a 4.0. Seems like he is leaning to stay in SoCal but I have no doubt we are recruiting him aggressively.

With the discussion of Canton, does anyone know if there is anything with the younger Murphy (Connor?)?

He doesn't have an official verbal offer yet. He missed most of last season with a broken arm so the coaches probably want to see how he does this season.

Arrow up on Ben Edwards.

His decommitment from Auburn today and this story published yesterday are all good signs for the good guys!

Ben Edwards - Hulk01 - 08-03-2014

Looks like the elite Florida safey will follow up his decommitments from the Buckeyes and Auburn and become a Cardinal.

From their junior years on, I raved about Jordan Richards and Wayne Lyons as safeties, but Edwards might be the best of them  when he is done.

brobdingnagian news.  Great to raise our profile in Florida.  Big Arrows up.

Re: Ben Edwards - martyup - 08-03-2014

And here's some video of Ben:

Big hitter, but he clearly has a tendency to lead with his head.  I counted three targeting flags thrown on him in this video.  A couple of others were questionable.  He'll need some technique training to avoid targeting penalties at Stanford.  But, boy does he have some closing speed on run plays.

Let's all hope Akina has himself his next Jim Thorpe Award winner.

Ahem.  On the roster already.

Re: Class of 2015 - OutsiderFan - 08-03-2014

Rivals has Ben Edwards as a four star recruit and #8 Safety. Scout has him a three star recruit and the #44 ranked Safety.  That's quite a disparity in evaluations.

Re: Class of 2015 - washingtonismoney - 08-03-2014

ESPN #11 S/#127 overall; 247 88 rating (3-star)/#30 S. 247 composte: 89 rating (4-star)/#18 S/#297 overall.

Re: Class of 2015 - OutsiderFan - 08-04-2014

Christian Wilkins puts Stanford in his Top 8.  If he takes two AP classes, fills out an application and gets in, Stanford looks good for him.

...and we are now at the top of the list for Ben Edwards. Still a ways to go but a very nice development considering he hasn't visited campus yet.

Re: Class of 2015 - TrumpCard - 08-05-2014

I seem to recall a time when people said that Stanford couldn't recruit DBs.  That seems to be a thing of the past.  Stanford would be sitting pretty with a class of Farrar, Edwards, Buncom and Meeks on top of Simmons, Holder, Alexander, Murphy and Franklin last year.

Re: Class of 2015 - OutsiderFan - 08-05-2014

Until today, every Kaumatule prediction on 247 was for Stanford. Now today there are like 10 for Oregon.  Any one know what is up?

Rumors are still floating, but it is unfortunately becoming more clear that Stanford is probably not a viable destination for this young man. Sucks... great kid, great family.
