I believe RichRod is a really good coach, and I'd take him over Mora (who is going to get some more offers this off-season and might be tempted to leave; not really sure what UCLA can afford). Everyone else in the south has some pretty obvious question marks, while I don't see anyone in the North being able to beat Stanford and Oregon.

Agree and I think if you look past the meaningless star rankings they really do have a great recruiting class.

Ole Miss Commit S CJ Hampton visiting Stanford - Bruce Wang - 10-04-2013

He's making a visit, but it sounds like a long shot.  But as Harbs used to say, just get them on campus.

Re: Class of 2014 - Fuzzy Dunlop - 10-04-2013

If Hampton wants to play with guys like this, we shouldn't want him anyway. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-saturday/ole-miss-students-including-approximately-20-football-players-152105852--ncaaf.html

Re: Class of 2014 - Fuzzy Dunlop - 10-04-2013

That's despicable, too.  It was also almost 20 years ago, which doesn't excuse it but does make it less deserving of any relevance to a current recruit's decision.

Quote:This is not a rednecks-only phenomenon.

It could have been the "Red-Necks of Stanford" Club for all we know. I thought there was one back when I was a student. Or was that a Texas club I'm thinking of?

Re: Class of 2014 - stanfan - 10-04-2013

Solly Thomas is at the Farm this weekend.  This is the guy we really want to keep our D on top.

Re: Class of 2014 - oman - 10-04-2013

Okay, before this gets out of hand, I want everyone to know they better not make fun of Texas.

I'm not sure that's something you should be proud of.

Re: Class of 2014 - fullmetal - 10-04-2013

I was a part of the Texas Club for some time.  I hear they were an active club in past years, but when I was there, no one really did anything.  Well, we did have a rinky-dink website and email list.

I hung a Texas flag in my dorm room every year.

I'm not.  My intention was to point out its absurdity.

Wow I did not know about this phenomenon in South Africa.  If the apartheidists wanted to distinguish between us and the Japanese, all they needed to refer to was this hand dandy guide from Time magazine.

Re: Class of 2014 - oman - 10-05-2013

Not sure how I would be treated in Asia.  I have an impressive mustache, laugh at the wrong time, but am retaining a decent amount of moisture as I age.  With just a slight diet adjustment I could do the sumo.

Is that museum as good as people are saying? When we were there for the Womens Final Four (minus Stanford) it seemed like around half the people visiting NOLA were there to see the WWII Museum.

Re: Class of 2014 - BigEasyCard - 10-05-2013

I'm a charter member of the WW II Museum and recommend it without reservation to anyone interested in that era.  For many of us on the board, our parents and/or grandparents lived through that time.  Visits provide me with historical context for personal experiences told by family members.

Geaux Cardinal!

Re: Class of 2014 - Bruce Wang - 10-05-2013

That WWII Museum is awesome.  2nd best thing in New Orleans after the food.  I put it ahead of the boozing.

Re: Class of 2014 - OutsiderFan - 10-05-2013

So who is more likely to Stanford, Terrence Alexander or Kendall Randolph?

Must say I was impressed by Alexander's season to date highlights.

Re: Class of 2014 - socalstanfan1 - 10-06-2013

If game atmosphere will influence Solomon Thomas at all, I think this was a fine game for him to attend.

Re: Class of 2014 - fullmetal - 10-06-2013

Was it me, or did I hear during the broadcast that the defense did not practice against a simulated hurry-up offense?

With this game, Solomon Thomas knows that Stanford takes its defense seriously.  Still, Stanford could have used some more pass rush in the second half.  They did *just* enough to win...

We impressed at least one crucial constituency last night: https://twitter.com/BinghamBaller9/status/386730623840182272

(That's Dalton Schultz.)

Re: Class of 2014 - AthleticsDynasty - 10-06-2013

The more I watch of Joey Alfieri the more I think he can have in impact at RB as a freshman. Anyone else agree?
