Re: Class of 2016 - yvonne - 05-22-2015

I think it's important to look at the predictions in context of events, such as visits and offers. Oregon wasn't even on Bisharat's chart until a few days before his offer there. Stanford had always been on the chart, but none of the predictors picked it until after his Stanford unofficial visit, which followed an offer.

Bisharat got 10 of Pac 12 offers - Redrum - 05-22-2015

...and a whole bunch more.  No USC or UCLA.  Interesting that Oregon offered.

I think it is important to put 247's predictions into the context that most of their predictions are not based upon anything rational.

Re: Class of 2016 - yvonne - 05-22-2015

There's that, too.

Re: Class of 2016 - JohnR34231 - 05-22-2015

247's predictions:
Meaningful and rational if they pick one of our recruits to Stanford.
Not meaningful at all if they don't.

Re: Class of 2016 - yvonne - 05-22-2015

This is not true. They seem to be reliable if they are from the regional recruiter. Many of the predictions come from national recruiters and those with no connection at all to the prospective student athlete. Rivals and Scout are better in that the players actually talk to them. I can't tell you how many times I've seen Andy Drukarev answer a question with "I'll talk to his [family member, coach]" in response to questions.

wait, wrong link. This reporter said Stanford: http://247sports.com/Bolt/Bisharat-lands-Stanford-offer-Cardinal-could-be-tough-to-beat-37397655

I've found it's not as clear cut as that, and actually a lot of the regional guys are biased (or don't know anything about other schools outside the region so can't judge well), but that there are certain 247 guys who are very good and I think tend to be a good gauge of likelihood of a commit.  Luckily the site lets you compare the accuracy of each reporter, so you can see which ones are good and which are not.

Lucky for us, it looks like Wiltfong has a pretty darn good record so far, which makes me bullish: http://247sports.com/User/Steve-Wiltfong-73/Predictions?Page=1&playerinstitution.primaryplayersport.recruitment.year=2016&playerinstitution.primaryplayersport.sport=Football

But related to JPRI's point, there's no evidence he interviewed him.

ASU, showing some love to the colors of the school.
Noter Dame, four leaf clover for the Irish who will need all the luck they can get this year.
Vanderbilt is the Commodores, hence the anchor.
Michigan State is green and white, but I don't know why the asterisk in the green.

Chaco Ulloa - Redrum - 05-22-2015

Sounds like a character in a spaghetti western of old, played by Charles Bronson.

Re: Class of 2016 - TrumpCard - 05-26-2015

Keith Simms has reported on his twitter account that he received offers from Oregon and Michigan St. in the last week.  As far as I know, however, Stanford remains his dream school.  And the offers from Harvard and Yale suggest he's in good shape with admissions.
