This class is shaping up sort of like 2010.  In the aftermath of a brobdingnagian recruiting haul the year before, Stanford is recruiting a bunch of solid players, but not too many headliners.  Kaumatule may end up being the only consensus top 100 recruit in this class.  That seems okay as long as Shaw gets solid players at all of the positions of need (RB and NT especially).  Is there any sign of life with the whales, like Jefferson, Marshall, Green and Wilkins?  If Wilkins doesn't commit, is Manu the answer at NT, or does Shaw need to find another this year?

Stanford recently offered 300 pound defensive lineman Ross Donnelly a scholarship. Donnelly is currently committed to Rice. But, he did very well at a Stanford camp and stated after the camp that an offer would change his recruitment. At this point it is a safe bet that he will commit to Stanford. His offer list indicates that he wants a good education.

Could probably get a decent high jump and pole vault with a 321" vertical (26'9").

Wow. Take an NCAA class men's long jump and turn it on its side. That's how high that jump would be.

I remember that on the TV Show "Buck Rogers" they had an episode with a global athletic contest with some guy that jumped almost that high in the high jump.  The quick explanation was that he was from a larger planet so jumping on Earth was easy, if I recall the episode correctly.

More On Donnelly - Extra Point - 08-01-2014

A day after getting an offer from Stanford and a week after attending a Stanford camp, Ross Donelly decommits from Rice.

"I would like to thank Rice for the opportunity that they have given me, but I have decided to open up my  recruitment!"

Looks like this could be the next commitment.

He doesn't have a lot of offers or a high star rating with the services, but his highlight tape impressed me:

Actually, ESPN has him as a 4-star DT and the 28th DT in the country: http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/player/_/id/184316/ross-donelly.  The other services seem to agree he's a 3-star, though.  But if he's seen as even a borderline 3-/4-star guy, I'm pleased, particularly since his earlier commitment to Rice shows that academics are important to him.

Agreed.  I also like to see people earning offers from camp performance against top competition, not carefully curated highlight tapes. Give me the 3 star who dominates camp and impressed the coaches in person over the 4* with an impressive tape any day.

Kaumatule isn't likely to end up in this class. We have a good shot with Green though. Outside shot at Marshall & Jefferson if they take OVs. Haven't heard anything about Wilkins taking an official visit so I would put him in the almost no chance category.

Probably best not to speculate on an open board even if the source has proven to be reliable.

That said, Canton will come to Stanford if he is admitted. The condition in the previous sentence has always been a known concern.

That's just the latest rumor. Yes if he gets in he will come. And Luke wasn't a lock to get in and had UCLA as his back up plan from what I remember. But he got in. Hopeful Canton does the same.
