A lot of what the defense gives is a result of the attack from 2015 point guard Marta Sniezek. A 5-7 fireball, shes without a doubt one of those you would rather play with than against. Sniezek is smart, skilled and competitive on par with anyone shell line up against. She also has 30 assists more than any other player in the EYBL.
That sounds most encouraging!

This just out. 2015 prospect Nora Kiesler speaks about her severe concussion she suffered last year. Reading her remarks, I am sadly reminded of Toni's description of her symptoms. Nora's symptoms, however, seem to have lasted weeks instead of months.Â
Quote:Just sitting in a fog, thats what it felt like when I went back to school. I was present in class physically, but mentally I couldnt retain information, Nora said during an interview with Rachel Platt, WHAS11 Anchor. She was on complete brain rest for two weeks after her severe concussion, after which she eased back into schoolwork and eventually back to the court.

Thought I would mention another possible 2016 prospect:Â CJ West.
West plays for a private Catholic school in Bakersfield and on C.a.l Sparks, and I think (from the interviews) on the US U16. Ranked 24 on Prospects Nation. She seems quite articulate. One sister is a varsity player at SJSU, the other played for CSU Bakersfield. She is a natural 5 but has been learning how to play at the 4. Hard to know if she is interested in Stanford and how she is doing scholastically, but she does say in the video that she loves the Catholic school experience and would be there even without the basketball. Garces is a college-prep school. Would be good to keep an eye on her. I imagine that Erica McCall played against her when Erica was a senior and CJ was a frosh--Erica went to Ridgeview across town.Â

Yes on Stanford interest. Yes it's mutual. We shall see.
Meanwhile Aussie Alana Smith will be on an official to Stanford, Texas and iirc Wake Forest this coming month. From Victoria. A big but I don't believe a 5.Â
Re: WBB: Recruiting Roundup -

Is Sierra Campisano (big from SD) still a possibility for 2016? Also, am I correct to surmise that Erin Boley is out? She had us in her top 7 but the latest article made it sound like she's deciding earlier in her junior year than Stanford attendees typically do...
Re: WBB: Recruiting Roundup -
BobK - 08-27-2014
Boley still in but that Dec decision is very worrisome.  Don't forget Anna Wilson is a 2016 and a commit now for close to a year.Â
Yes on Campisano. In Oregon Stanford was watching closely.Â
I really like Mallory McGwire if I haven't mentioned her. 6-4 Post from Reno a 2016. Big strong athletic agile. Niece of Mark. Plays for East Bay's Cal Stars with several other big time and possible Stanford players. Both also 2016s.Â

I have not been able to find out much about Smith, except that she was a starter in the Australian U20 tournament for Victoria. She must be a little older than a typical frosh.Â
Here is what we have so far about 2016, I think. These are the girls who have been mentioned as prospects somewhere, somehow. Are they all 2016?
Anna Wilson *commit*
Lauren Cox.
Erin Boley
Natalie Chou
Jackie Young
Sabrina Ionescu
DiJonai Carrington
Celeste West
Kat Tudor
Sierra Campisano
Mallory McGwire

can't quite recall where, but thought I read that Jackie Young had a list which didn't include Stanford. Also the RUMOR (and who knows how true they are) is that Cox likely to stay in TX.
Re: WBB: Recruiting Roundup -
BobK - 08-28-2014
They are all 2016.
Don't know Young and Stanford
Strong rumors about Cox staying local in Texas. But we shall see.Â
I believe Smith the Aussie is the right age, think I saw that, but I sure couldn't find much.Â
Re: WBB: Recruiting Roundup -

If Smith is coming on an official, I take it she is 2015...right? That would leave one less scholarship for 2016, and we still have not heard about McWilliams and Kiesler from 2015.Â
The NCAA recruiting "contact period" opens up from Sept 9-29, so I imagine a lot of questions will be answered during that time frame as we lead in to the letters of intent in November.
Re: WBB: Recruiting Roundup -

Smith is a 2015 yes. Â
Re: WBB: Recruiting Roundup -

Read a nice review of Smith who was at Texas this past weekend. 6-3 a 4. Called very good and athletic. I favor good basketball players over athletic, but nice if both.Â

Thanks Bob! I found this:
Quote:Visiting the University of Texas this weekend are two four-star prospects that both have the ability to make an immediate impact at the Big 12 school. Alana Smith of Australia and Christina Aborowa of Philadelphia, Pa., are both in Austin this weekend.
At 6 feet 3 inches, Smith is a forward who brings a high level of skill and a nice foundation of athleticism to the power forward spot. She has international experience playing with the U17 Australian national team and has spent the last two years playing in a pro league as an unpaid player in Australia.

Good to hear the positive reviews! That is an interesting profile--someone who has played in a pro league as an unpaid player. Have we ever had anyone like that? Does it count against eligibility?

Don't recall any WBB but yes on the Men and I'm sure golfers in a pro tourney like Stackhouse

not uncommon in golf (or tennis). Patrick Rodgers used effectively in his time on the Farm.

Did you notice that Angela Salvadores is making US visits? She is the incredible scorer who scored 40 points against the US U17 team. We commented on her at the time. But she is visiting Louisville, Duke, Purdue, and Kentucky. I do wish we could attract her--but it is hard to know where she stands academically and thus whether Stanford would be an option. Prospects considers her a better offensive player than KLS.
Boley is visiting Notre Dame.

Hah! By being too cheap to subscribe to anything, I guarantee that anything I read is public ;P
Re: WBB: Recruiting Roundup -

I subscribe so never know what's free and what's not. :)
I would think Smith would be a good get but I know so little about her. Two guards so far so a Big would be well big.Â
I really hope we save 4 for next year and I really hope several prospects are A students this school year.Â
Re: WBB: Recruiting Roundup -
Jskass - 09-02-2014
and of the 2016 list above, perhaps West and Campisano most likely to choose Stanford if accepted (other than Wilson who has already committed)?
Cox and Chou rumors are staying in TX (though UConn seems to be after both of them) and Boley seemingly Notre Dame or staying in KY? Based upon what I read online it does not appear that Ionescu or McGwire's GPAs are high enough for Stanford.
I remain mystified how Duke seems to continue to attract top talent but maybe sometimes it's the consolation prize relative to Stanford admissions?
I too do not subscribe to any paid sites so just read a bunch of publicly available information and use the old mosaic theory.
