RE: Other Games this Long Weekend - Goose - 11-26-2022

IMO Michigan is a significantly better team this year than they were last year. Arguably this year's defense is not quite as good as last year's. Similarly, I think this years run game is a bit bitter than last year's. The big difference is the ability of the QB. Cade McNamara had a lot of good qualities but he didn't have a big arm and the ability to "make all the throws". JJ McCarthy can, and that is critical. You really don't know how Michigan is going to attack you on any given play. McCarthy can also bring you back if you get behind, so you can just play your game and not panic if things aren't going well all the time. Michigan has a much better shot at actually winning the playoff this year than last.

That said, OSU almost lost to Northwestern and really hasn't looked good this year. This was a year Michigan "should" win. We will know more soon, assuming nothing crazy happens in the B1G Playoff.

Just realized that today is the last full Saturday of college football until next September. Dang. Even if Stanford has generally been tough to watch, there have been plenty of other compelling games. I will sure miss it.

Yes, but we can still indulge in a plethora of championship and bowl games.

Oregon State is handing this game over on a series of turnovers.  28-10 Ducks mid 3rd quarter.

OSU was favored and at home.  Stroud may win the H and probably will be No. 1 overall pick.  Early on OSU dominated LOS. At one point in late second quarter OSU had 115 yards rushing to Michigan’s 1. But Michigan stayed in with the big pass plays and then turned around the running game in the second half.  Michigan had played a cupcake schedule.  So, I think there were doubters. No more. 5 TD’s in over 45 yards in a game ot that magnitude is impressive to say the least. is

JH best win to date, imo.   Not easy to whip OSU in The Horseshoe.

OSU DC is getting his resume together….

Harbaugh is up by 11 with 11 minutes left in the game, and goes for the jugular by throwing deep.  How is OSU supposed to get back in the game if Harbaugh won't start turtling in the third quarter?  Isn't that what elite coaches/teams do -- shut down the offense at the first sign of a second half lead and try to cling to the lead you already have?  Oh wait, that's right, literally no good coaches do that.... my bad.

Oh how I wish we were back to arguing about turtling.  Those were golden days….

I don't think Stroud will win the H.eisman now.  The media powers that be will want a winner from one of the CFP teams, because that drives the narrative and the ratings.

Do Karty's chances to win the kicking award go up since the Moody missed a 50+ kick today?

Probably right.

Unbelievably, Oregon State is back in this game trailing the Ducks 34-31 with 12 minutes to go in the game.

I am trying to remember the last time a H.eisman winner was from a non-CFP team.  Lamar Jackson in 2016, perhaps.

Oregon St has scored 28 unanswered to take a 3 point lead with 9 mins left in the game. GO BEAVS

Ducks went for it on 4th down from their own 29 and got stuffed.  They had a 3 point lead at that point.  Pretty stupid call IMO.

Really enjoying how Oregon State is playing. Loose, having fun, running the ball with abandon, winning in the trenches, really solid defense, not making stupid mistakes... Reminds me of another team of yore...

38-34 Beavs after a 28-3 run vs. the Ducks.  Unbelievable.  Lanning has been too aggressive in a few instances.  Beavs have capitalized.  With 8 minutes to play, can Oregon State close this out?

Utah is demolishing Colorado 56-14 early in the 4th quarter.  Anybody surprised?  The Buffs will be our co-cellar-dwellers in the Pac-12.

Read an interesting article in The Athletic on Jonathan Smith. He had some capital given his status as a former Beaver star.  But they made it clear he’d have time to build.  In recruiting he likes two sport athletes.  As he said, get them at 6’5 215 and athletic.  Build them into 6’5 245 and athletic.  Can’t be easy to recruit to Corvallis.  He’s done a good job.

RE: Other Games this Long Weekend - Austroturf - 11-26-2022

Beavers will take down the Ducks.  Incredible comeback.

RE: Other Games this Long Weekend - lex24 - 11-26-2022

Good for the Beavs. Buckeyes and Ducks lose.  Now if Toejams go down it’s a nice trifecta.

Yeah, but that would require Notre Dame winning.  It’s like picking between bed bugs and scabies.

Nah.  Not with Kelly gone.  Easy pick.  Especially given the good things I’ve read about Marcus Freeman.

I still remember how gracious the ND fans were after the ‘92 game.  Made an impression.

RE: Other Games this Long Weekend - BostonCard - 11-26-2022

TAMU (of the top recruiting class but 1-6 conference record) is up early on LSU.

How did we beat ND?

Toejams have 19 transfer players.

I have also been asking myself that question.  Parallel universe maybe?
