If you have followed Stanford football since the late 70s, you know that Stanford often wins when least expected and loses when expected to win. All of the signs look bad for Stanford in this game. It is not, therefore, irrational to expect an upset win today.

I re-watched the USC game this morning. Sarrell went out with about 3 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. It looked like he pulled up on a third down play and it might be a hamstring or calf issue. Miller came in and took over at guard while Hattis took Sarrell's spot at RT. Miller looked like he played decently at guard while Hattis did ok although he gave up sack and allowed some pressure on Mills. Looks like Sarrell could be back for the next game. I think the UCF game will be closer than the spread.

All you need to do is see some highlights of the Niners playing the Bucs last week to understand the issue Stanford's defense had against USC was no pass rush of any consequence. The Safeties may not be great right now, but it is a little oversimplification to lay blame at their feet.

For some reason the terrific prediction app no longer shows in my browsers, so here is my ever optimistic prediction:
Stanford 34
UCF 31
And now it's off to the French Quarter for the game.

I can't get to the actual prediction link. I hope I'm not too late but it is only 11:00. I predict Stanford 35 - UCF 31. I am ignoring all the fear voices in my head.
Cheers,
Pete F.

I believe I had UCF 38 Stanford 20. Did someone actually nail the score exactly?

No one got the exact score, but
you were not alone in picking against Stanford. Cardcrimson won because his prediction was only off by 5 points and he got the 3 point bonus for guessing Stanford's score correctly.

Why do I feel so crappy about the game, then?

That’s why I don’t pick against Stanford, even when I think they will lose.

Not to pile on, but I prognosticated UCF 43, Stanford 17 earlier in this thread...

Well, if you keep it up, you can at least get a hat out of it.

Hey Mick -- it looks like you didn't submit an official prediction. I do see your post on the 11th (Monty Python references seemed to be a theme last week), but I don't see an entry through the widget. It's too bad because with your prediction you would've scored pretty well. I can manually add your score in (although given your picking so heavily against Stanford, I'm reluctant to do so :)), but I want to make sure you're actually putting your scores in the sanctioned way from now on.

George,
Neither pefloresjr nor I could access the widget for our timely and nearly identically off-the-mark predictions before kickoff yesterday. We both noted inability to access the widget. Could you please add our scores to the results as well?
Thanks, and Geaux Cardinal!

The widget was down on Saturday morning, hours before kickoff.
