I just watched operation mincemeat on Netflix, if you want some gold old fashioned British spy stuff that doesn’t succum to the “British plot”.  Helps that, as best I can tell, it is historically pretty accurate.  Bonus points to the subtle digs at a certain British spy author.

It cracks me up that the Oxbridge Twums fancy themselves the ultimate spymasters and that the popular imagination indulges them in this fantasy.  At the height of the Cold War, the MI-6 head of Soviet Counterintelligence, Kim Philby, himself was a KGB spy.

I went to see OMD last night at the Fox Theater in Oakland to relive my college days' music.

What a terrific show. They played all their hits, and it was fun to travel to what were simpler times for me. I saw them in 1985, openings for the Thompson Twins in the Oakland Arena.

80s is my favorite musical era.
