Just for the record, the Baltimore Colts franchise that entered the NFL in 1950 is not the same Baltimore franchise that later moved to Indianapolis. The original Colts folded after one season. Subsequently, Baltimore was awarded an expansion franchise that was also named the Colts.
Niner Hall of Famer who played in the 1949 championship game - Frankie Albert?Â

Browns. Dante Lavelli, MAC Speedie, Frank Gatski, Dub Jones? Of course, Motley, Graham and Paul Brown.
Dont think Albert is in the Pro Football Hall.
I cant remember the name but I think the Hallof Famer NY Giant was a baseball umpire and football player. perhaps Mick can remember without looking it up.

Phogge is right on the umpire. Waiting for Mick

I went and looked just now. Mick will get it. I was also correct on two of the four Browns who made it into the Hall.
Side note. I take partial credit for the Niners erecting a tight wire fence in the East EZ tunnel at Kezar to protect players from flying missels from the crowd. We would show up at 7am and stand in line for the only available seats (Kezar always sold out in the early 50s) in the unreserved section. We could have sat in the Christopher Milk Section but they were patrolled by Poly and SI players ushering for free who would slap us around when we were rowdy. Before the fence we would pound guys like Graham, Crazy and Groza with bottles and other debris. We could easily outrace the one fat cop who really didnt try very hard to catch us. Think his name was Tracy, of all names. We got older, the fence was built and we morphed into tossing F bombs at Doug Atkins, Harlon Hill and Bobby Layne.

Found yet another Brown Hall of Famer.
Graham, Motley and three others. I got four. Should have known the fifth. Watched him play in 54.
Plus Lou Rymkus, called by Paul Brown the best QB protector ever, just missed being voted in.
The Browns were almost unbeatable for 10 seasons but somehow my little gang of Sunset kids hated the Chicago Ursines a lot more.

I think Leo the Lion and YA cane in 50-51. So I think only Joe Perry of the 49ers
Cleveland:Â Paul Brown of course
So Dub Jones and Bill Willis a Guard ??

The only member of the 1949 San Francisco 49ers to make the NFL Hall of Fame was Joe "The Jet" Perry. Five Niners made it in the 1950s, including Nomellini (first year with team was '50), Tittle ('51), McElhenny ('52), Bob St. Clair ('53) and John Henry Johnson ('54).
The 1949 Cleveland Browns are represented by the following eight members:
Bill Willis (1946-1953)
Dante Lavelli (1946-1956)
Frank Gatski (1946-1956)
Len Ford (1950-1957)
Lou Groza (1946-1959, 1961-1967)
Marion Motley (1946-1953)
Otto Graham (1946-1955)
Paul Brown (1946-1962)
Basically, the 49ers finished 2nd to the Cleveland Browns every year of the AAFC, either in the division or in the championship game.
