Now 24-3 after a sack, fumble, and return for a TD.  Hurts just got crushed on that play. Ole miss was lucky that they ruled the unnecessary roughness to be behind after the TD.  It wasn't.

Alabama losing is a bad thing for any non-SEC team with designs on the playoffs because it opens up the possibility of Bama and the SEC champ getting in. Bama will always get the benefit of the doubt at this point; I think a 1 loss Bama beats an undefeated Stanford, and a 2 loss beats a 1 loss Stanford.

Re: Looking ahead to Week 3 games - amartinsu13 - 09-17-2016

lol 1 loss Bama does not beat a Pac12 Champ undefeated Stanford.  Under any circumstance.

Undefeated Pac12 Champ Stanford is probably #1 team in the nation.

Re: Looking ahead to Week 3 games - dabigv13 - 09-17-2016

I'd like to believe that, but everything I've seen from the way CFB is covered in the media gives me doubts. I suppose an undefeated Stanford will make the playoffs probably no matter what, but I do think a 2 loss Bama is a big threat to a 1 loss Stanford (or any P5 1 loss school).

Barring some seriously crazy crap going down no team that fails to win their conference is going to the playoff.

Re: Looking ahead to Week 3 games - 82 Card - 09-17-2016

Oregon's penchant for going for 2 now has it down by one point. After making the first one, they missed the next two.

Agree.

If the committee ever sends two teams from the same conference to the 4-team playoff, the resulting riots ought to prompt a rule change to outlaw that, even if it's the almighty SEC.

Sending a team that didn't win Its conference over the winner seems unlikely and like it would be highly controversial too. The team would have to have a better record than whichever P5 conference misses out that year.

I do think we could see an SEC conference winner with a worse record than the Pac12 winner make it in while the Pac12 was excluded.

Now down by 2 points after going 1 for 4 on 2-point conversations.

I did agree with trying it on the 4th TD, since the chance of tying was good, while being down 2 late in the 3rd isn't a lot worse than down 1.

The only situation where 2 SEC teams make it is if 2 other power 5 conferences have champions with 3+ losses as a result of the "wrong" team winning the championship game. The only other question would be if a 1 loss Alabama who missed out on SEC championship game would go over a 2 loss pac 12 champ, but I think the answer would be no.

Watching the Ducks drive -- pretty successfully -- right now. I don't think I've ever seen the Ducks pull as many OL as they have just in this drive.

Re: Looking ahead to Week 3 games - 82 Card - 09-17-2016

Ducks lose by 3, which is the number of points they left on the field by always going for 2.

Re: Looking ahead to Week 3 games - washingtonismoney - 09-17-2016

Nebraska wins after some opportunistic defense and strong running. As for Oregon, their defense doesn't look as disastrously bad as last year. Prukop looks (on limited viewing evidence) like a rich man's Jeremiah Masoli: strong runner, pretty suspect thrower. In fact, Oregon had a chance to go ahead when Charles Nelson streaked ahead of the defense. Prukop underthrew him and the Nebraska safety caught up to the throw.

Re: Looking ahead to Week 3 games - fullmetal - 09-17-2016

Michigan pulls it out against Colorado, Nebraska survives Oregon, and now Ole Miss is about to lose to Bama (down 5 with 2:41 to go and about to kick off to Bama, onside notwithstanding)...oh well.

Halftime, Spartans 15, Domers 7

This Cal-Texas game is BONKERS.

Neither of those teams is exactly a defensive juggernaut.

Think BOTH teams could bust 70?

Sparty pulled it off 36-28.

Pac12 needs some OOC wins. I'm really hoping Cal can pull off the upset and Texas ends up winning the B12.

Re: Looking ahead to Week 3 games - thunder_chik - 09-17-2016

59ers holding vs Longhorns, at the half, 35-33.  Home field advantage?

Re: Looking ahead to Week 3 games - thunder_chik - 09-17-2016

Meanwhile, 'ruins are shutting out BYU, 17-0.
