Re: Colorado Game Thread - BostonCard - 11-07-2015

Announcers saying that we should "take the points".  I disagree.  A TD is important, and even if we don't get there, it leaves Colorado 95 yards away from their end zone with only about 2 minutes left in the half.

By the way, time of possession: Stanford 22, Colorado 6

I hope we do go for it here... Gotta trust the big guys up front to get that yard.

That was a great play action to Schulz!  I was wondering when we were going to see that from the Jumbo set!  Take the points...Ha!

Re: Colorado Game Thread - SeattleTree - 11-07-2015

Beautiful. Great call. Great execution.

Re: Colorado Game Thread - needle - 11-07-2015

TD!

Yes, we all sort of hate to waste that pass call from the Ogre on Colorado, but at the same time I greatly appreciate Shaw's willingness to try to step on the neck of an opponent (so to speak, of course).

Re: Colorado Game Thread - BostonCard - 11-07-2015

I noted this on the last fourth and short.  COlorado was committing all 11 players to stopping the run.  Sure enough a play fake leaves Shultz WIDE open.  The bootleg would have been there too.

Great play. I've been waiting for that.

Re: Colorado Game Thread - FarmBoy - 11-07-2015

It was a great play but should they have save that for later in the season when it mattered more?

Re: Colorado Game Thread - washingtonismoney - 11-07-2015

for as struggle-y as the offense has looked, it's scored TDs in three of its four possessions.

It's not a waste.  It puts the fake on film, so other teams won't want to over-commit the way Colorado has.  Plus, the reason to run the fake is not because we surprise the other team, but because the other team's overcommitment leaves our players wide open.  I think Shaw would run it against anyone if they all dedicate 11 players to stopping the run.

Nice play by our supposedly weak safety.

#23 was in on special teams. Was it Holder who was injured?

Yeah, it helps that we are 2/2 on fourth down.

Nice play by Irwin drawing the hold.  He's had a couple of good plays tonight.  Perhaps his coming out game.

Gorgeous throw and catch with Hogan to Hooper.  I thought Wright had gotten it in.  This is the offense that I wanted to see.

Re: Colorado Game Thread - Treebound - 11-07-2015

Talk about stepping on their throat!  Great way to finish out the first half with a pick, great pass to our TE and a Hogan keeper!  Woot!    Somebody didn't stay home...

Re: Colorado Game Thread - amartinsu13 - 11-07-2015

4 touchdowns in 5 first half drives...

Beautiful first half by the Stanford offense.

Imposing our will on their defense.  As expected.

Re: Colorado Game Thread - needle - 11-07-2015

On the third down Hogan rushing TD, I actually thought he should have thrown that ball away. A sack would have been devastating. I wonder what Shaw and Bloomgren were thinking.

But it worked out, didn't it?
