Re: Week 7 in opponents - washingtonismoney - 10-17-2015

SC outgaining N.D. 367-257 at HT.

Re: Week 7 in opponents - washingtonismoney - 10-17-2015

SC up by a TD now, with SC mustering yet another explosive drive. The chance to coach all these skill players must be awfully attractive.

Re: Week 7 in opponents - BostonCard - 10-17-2015

Notre Dame defense is being exposed.  USC was averaging 9.4 yards per play at the half, and just scored after another big play.  And remember that SC is playing with their backup center.

SC's defense is starting to lock down too. The drift of this game is Trojan.

And just like that, two defensive stops by Notre Dame and they drive 95 yards (with the help of two PI's) for a touchdown.

SC looks in trouble now.

Re: Week 7 in opponents - dabigv13 - 10-17-2015

As much as it pains me, ND looks good. They have some athletes, and their QB is making ridiculous throws.

Re: Week 7 in opponents - washingtonismoney - 10-17-2015

Ducks score on first drive of the game against UW. Apparently Adams looked good.

Re: Week 7 in opponents - BostonCard - 10-17-2015

Yeah, USC imploded... and Will Fuller will be tough to cover.

Are we in agreement that we want ASU to pull the upset?  It would be terrible for the conference, but I just don't want to face Utah in a (hypothetical) title game.

Not at all in agreement. I'd rather play Utah than SC.

SC would need a lot of help for that to happen.  If ASU wins tonight, they're in the driver's seat in the South with UO, WSU, UW, UA, and Cal left to play.

Re: Week 7 in opponents - washingtonismoney - 10-17-2015

Not all that much help. ASU has one loss, SC has two, and SC has the tiebreaker. Yes, SC has the harder schedule but it's not the craziest idea in the world.

Washington just stopped Oregon, but then went offside on the punt. Oregon lines up, next play, fumbles...or probably not. (going to replay).

Re: Week 7 in opponents - BostonCard - 10-17-2015

Worth noting that both Stanford and Notre Dame beat USC by the same score 41-31, though we did it on the road, and Notre Dame did it at home.

Re: Week 7 in opponents - ThePassionOfTheChryst - 10-17-2015

One thing we can probably both agree on, wim: I doubt anyone in the South really wants anything to do with Stanford right now.

Well, SC outgained N.D. 590 yards to 476. (Stanford outgained SC by about 50.) No turnovers or brobdingnagian gaffes by either team in the Stanford/SC game; SC made the bulk of the gaffes against ND. If you had to go just by the evidence of this game, you'd probably have to conclude Stanford's better.

I love that Owusu's catch is now the benchmark for other spectacular catches.

Re: Week 7 in opponents - washingtonismoney - 10-17-2015

Oregon looks better with Adams at QB, as you'd probably expect, but Washington is doing a good job keeping them held down. UW's defense's greatest ability may be its Jedi mind trick ability to convince its opponents not to run up the middle on them; Freeman has looked effective when running. I'd imagine Oregon will stop pfaffing about and just pound Washington at some point.

Meanwhile while Oregon's tackling has at times looked comical, Washington's offense is overall too inept to dent them much so far.

Both teams looking rather average.

Re: Week 7 in opponents - ThePassionOfTheChryst - 10-17-2015

How has Browning looked?  People insist that he is going to develop into a star, and I know he was highly touted, but I haven't seen anything from him yet this year to lead me to believe that.  Perhaps he just has the misfortune of sharing a conference with Rosen.

They have asked nothing of Browning, and he has richly delivered that.
