Looking to the week-from-Thursday-night UCLA game, the coaches have done something they did not do in the Northwestern game. Then, much of the play-calling was designed for a team that wasn't on the field. Instead, it was designed for a "historical" Stanford team, the running back/try to pass to the tight ends team. (I recall just one pass to a tight end in the AZ game). Since then, coaching has given the players the plays that fit their talents, their abilities, and thus their confidence levels...essentially, THEIR game, the player's game. Dovetailing with that, if the players continue to remind themselves of how they felt after that Evanston game concluded, such will go a long way in assuring themselves of a requisite focus for each future game. Go Cardinal!

We seemed to do well passing to the tight ends against USC. I think Arizona is the anomaly.

Yep, the staff saw things on film from Arizona's defense that they felt they could exploit with plays designed for the X and Zs. I think you can expect the Ys to be heavily involved in the passing game, especially off of play-action, as opponents are going to try to counter Stanford's physical run game with stacked boxes and larger defenders. SU's TEs are excellent blockers, but also very athletic and able to make plays downfield. This is truly a Defensive Coordinator's nightmare.

Yup, that's the only thing you can do when we show up with an Ogre wearing a TE jersey. It's a thing of beauty, a working OL.
