N.D. took two delay of games before running a game...and we're seeing peak Brian Kelly exasperation.

Imagine if Shaw did that.

By the way, is it "delay of games" or "delays of game"?  "Delay of games" implies that a of exceedingly large proportions snowstorm delayed the start of multiple games at one part.  "Delays of game" implies that two penalties delayed the same game.  But I never knew the rule and "delay of games" sounds more correct.

Delays of game is correct, I messed up. (Same as "attorneys general" or "chalupas supreme.")

This Onion article (http://www.theonion.com/article/william-safire-orders-two-whoppers-junior-3351) nails the rule while making fun of pedants. Something for everyone!

I love The Onion.  Amazing how broad their spectrum of topics is.  And they always seem to take an interesting slant.

Re: Week 5 in opponents - washingtonismoney - 10-03-2015

ND starting OL Quenton Nelson injured, but walks off under his own power.

Re: Week 5 in opponents - BostonCard - 10-03-2015

ASU just scored again to go up 22-10.

I think the copy editors among us would say it's best to reword and avoid the awkward and pedantic sounding construction. In other words, wimp out and say "two delay of game penalties."

Re: Week 5 in opponents - BostonCard - 10-03-2015

I have a feeling that Utah will be alone on top of the Pac-12 power ratings this week.  UCLA now down 29-10.

Re: Week 5 in opponents - OutsiderFan - 10-03-2015

UCLA was overrated all year.  Rosen is not ready to play QB against real teams.

Re: Week 5 in opponents - BostonCard - 10-03-2015

Halftime in Death Valley 14-3 Clemson with the third quarter just started and Clemson just outside of the Notre Dame red zone.

Re: Week 5 in opponents - BostonCard - 10-03-2015

And just like that Clemson scores.

Wilner's quote:

Quote:NOTRE DAME (plus-2) at CLEMSON: The Irish defense AND two points? Count me in. The Tigers aren’t ready for this level of competition. Pick: Notre Dame.
...
Five-star special: Notre Dame. Tempted to take the Crimson Tide, but Notre Dame has a greater advantage over Clemson on the lines of scrimmage than Bama does over the Dawgs. And that’s where both games will be won.

Unfortunately, he picked us.

Probably true.  tOSU looks bad; Michigan state looks bad; Ole Miss just lost.  TCU and Baylor don't really have much of a resume.  Notre Dame and UCLA are losing; Georgia lost.

Re: Week 5 in opponents - BostonCard - 10-03-2015

ASU gets a second safety against UCLA.

Re: Week 5 in opponents - BostonCard - 10-03-2015

Down goes UCLA.

Re: Week 5 in opponents - BostonCard - 10-03-2015

The last touchdown by ASU; UCLA had it stopped a good 17 yards from the end zone, and the pile just kept moving and moving all the way to the end zone.  That pretty much sums up the Bruins' day!

Re: Week 5 in opponents - BostonCard - 10-03-2015

Notre Dame scores 19 points in the fourth quarter, and almost ties the game but fails on the two-point conversion.  Seven seconds left.

Domers fail.

Re: Week 5 in opponents - washingtonismoney - 10-03-2015

Colorado scores to go up 14-7.
