There are rumors about ESB's dad strongly wanting him to go to the University of Dead Fake Girlfriends

Where have you heard that if you don't mind sharing?

There has been some discussion on the Bootleg about someone talking to his father at the Opening.

Interestingly, a couple of predictions that Alex Stump will flip to Stanford: http://247sports.com/Player/Alex-Stump-43076

When you see an offer list that includes the likes of Harvard and Yale you have a recruit that is serious about a top education. When you see traditional powers on the list, you have a recruit that wants to win football games. There is only one place where a recruit can get both. The part that doesn't fit is Kentucky?

Re: Class of 2015 - theashwineffect - 07-25-2014

Stump will flip.

As the previous poster mentioned, the offer list offers significant insight into the specifics of recruiting dynamics (ie. 4 star with Yale, Harvard vs. 4 star without the same; former will more and most likely flip).

When was the last guy who had those attributes and offers who didn't join Stanford when he had an early offer? We pulled a similarly profiled Reilly Gibbons from the ether and he had committed to Miami.

To provide a counter to my question ("When the last guy...?"), the best answer was that Barker TE kid from Mass who went to Harvard and then dropped off the football team within the first year to play club lacrosse (Based on that, he was not a 'real' '4-star' to begin with, if you were to judge his star rating based on his skill set between the ages of 14-18, his performance in college, and his commitment to complete the NCAA college football experience).

Saturday Night Lights Camp - OutsiderFan - 07-27-2014

Drukarev posted a list of participants behind pay wall.  Surely there will be stories and videos from Saturday Night Lights camp as time goes by, on individual recruits, but anyone have any kind of overall summary?

In 2013, Terrence Alexander, Frank Buncom, and Jordan Perez participated, to name a few, and Perez earned his offer based on that camp performance.  But I remember it wasn't that heavily attended.  Curious to know if this year's version on Saturdy night had more participants.

2015 TE Daniel Imatorabhebhe and 2016 QB K.J. Costello reported as attendees on Rivals home page.

Re: Class of 2015 - PrinceLightfoot - 07-27-2014

IMO Drukarev at Rivals is absolutely amazing in his recruiting coverage. He really understands these kids and has a better feel for our recruits than any other. What he offers is absolutely worth the subscription for recruitniks. The following is all the free information I was able to gather from twitter.

Seems like this year had more participants - about 35 total including current commits Nick Wilson, Brian Chaffin, and Jack Bailey. Here is the free article from last years July camp: https://stanford.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1529370

Drukarev tweeted that KJ Costello performed very well.

Quote:2016 SoCal QB KJ Costello was terrific at Stanford's camp tonight

The following tweets suggests he loves Stanford and connected well with Chaffin.

Quote:It doesn't get much better than this  :) #fearthetree
Quote:Brian Chaffin is the man!!!! Maybe one day I might be taking snaps from him!!!

Drukarev also said that WR and DL group performed very well.

Quote:WR (Stump, Arcega-Whiteside, Daniel&Josh Imatorbhebhe, etc..) and DL (Ude, Agim, Ross Donelly, Wesley Annan) were strong at Stanford's camp.

Parents do. The school pays for official visits only, I think.

In the last five years.... - Mick - 07-28-2014

...my sons have had to complete the online NCAA application twice.  There are many questions surrounding participation in camps.  Not just who paid for it, but who did the coaching, did your club coach participate, what kind of gear did you get, what kind of logos, etc.  Not exactly invasive, but very, very comprehensive.  No wiggle room at all.

Re: Class of 2015 - washingtonismoney - 07-29-2014

A commitment! Reagan Williams, a LB/FB from Ohio, camped over the weekend, received his offer, and committed: https://twitter.com/RWilliams_6/status/494122326879764481

Williams is a four-star on Rivals, but a three-star to everyone else. His offer list includes Boston College, Indiana, and Purdue.

Re: Class of 2015 - OutsiderFan - 07-29-2014

This kid wasn't even on the radar of the recruiting services in terms of Stanford being interested, or his interest in Stanford, from what I gather.

Based on that video, he sure does "fit the mold" of a Stanford player - big, physical, relentless.  My guess is Williams will be given a shot at ILB and if he doesn't pan out there due to lack of speed/quickness, he'll be moved to FB.

Edit: Oh, I see that 247 story says he was offered as a Fullback!

Re: Class of 2015 - 2 for 2028 - 07-29-2014

We had a 2-star FB/ILB recruit not so long ago who turned out ok for us:

Three star receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside to announce this week. Looks to be between us, wake forest, and michigan state.

If Whiteside was at the camp last week, Stanford would seem to be the odds on favorite.

His offer list indicates that he is serious about an education. I would be suprised if he doesn't come to Stanford.

He plays D like Shane Skov.  He has a nose for the ball and avoids traffic well.  He's a relentless blocker, but I like him for D.

Re: Class of 2015 - OutsiderFan - 07-30-2014

FYI:

No less than six new Arcega-Whiteside to Stanford predictions on 247 since 7/27... Out of six total predictions since 7/27.
