Anyway, Archer is one of the more interesting recruits I've ever seen. His Junior highlight video, my reaction is, "sure he's big, strong and skilled, but if he wants to follow in the footsteps of Stanford NFL TEs, he needs to get faster." Then I watched his Senior highlights just posted yesterday, and I literally wondered if I was watching the same guy from the Junior video. Archer seemingly transformed his body between Junior and Senior year and did become a lot faster. Judging from the disparity between his Junior and Senior highlight videos, I have to think he is going to get a ratings bump, perhaps even from 3 to 4 stars, because he was absolutely a 3 star his Junior year, but I saw 4 star in his Senior video. Looks like much more than a Plan B type to me.
Cal fans are rightfully upset right now and Stanford fans should be stoked to land Bradley Archer after missing on Hudson Henry.
Keep in mind that Smith and Parkinson weren’t just 5* tight ends but the top tight end recruit in the nation in their recruiting class, and Henry was the top tight end in this year’s class. Smith is likely to be the top tight end taken in the draft this year.
That’s not to say that Archer’s commitment is an afterthought as I’m more interested to see what a guy does once he’s here than what their high school recruiting rating was.

2 star rating, 3 star offer list (Stanford, Oklahoma State, Utah, Louisville, both Arizona schools, Oregon State, and a bunch of G5). Was also first team all-state in Colorado at DLine (!!!).
Even if he's a warm body, who cares? At least we'll be able to have full 11-on-11 scrimmages this coming summer.

Archer is a really good flip so late in the process (we offered in mid-October) and important after last year's "gap" year for scholarship TEs.

So what is the plan to get to 22-23 scholarships in this class? Stanford sits at 16 commits and has only 2-3 more (realistic) targets out there.
They really need a QB, DL and ILBs.

Actually we have more targets that are very realistic
However admissions is always the key and not all 16 have been admitted. Most but more to come we hope
We have 5 or so realistic targets plus a player returning from his mission

247 experts are now predicting that 4-star DB Trent McDuffie will likely not choose Stanford.
at one point they had him at over 60%, but within the last few days, that has declined to under 30%.
but at least we will get Salim Turner-Muhammad, who is also 4-star.

Wow, didn't realize Stanford was a favorite to land Johnson. Kid has offers from Michigan, Notre Dame, and Alabama.

We have 2 ILBs already (Tristan Sinclair and Levani Damuni back from his mission), so I believe that's done. 3 DB commits so far, and you and I and everyone else agree that we need more.

Well, he's rated the #12 prospect in the state of Washington by 247Sports. He was defensive POY in his league.
Who knows, he could be the next BBK, although Petersen apparently doesn't think so since he hasn't offered.
I hope Shaw has gone up to see him play, I mean it's only a 13 hour drive.
