There is no perfectly fair way to do this, because there are multiple plausible criteria for seeding teams. There is no perfect answer on how to discount losses that occurred due to injury, especially across the board. I agree that UConn will likely be better than its likely seed, let alone its record, but without a ton of games at full strength against premium opponents, it is hard to tell how much better it is.

That seems pretty reasonable to me. Look, I'd LOVE to have them as a three seed in Greensboro because there's a legit chance they knock SCAR out in the Elite Eight. But I don't think that would be fair to SCAR and their body of work this season.

Send UConn to Spokane! We did not get a chance to play them last year, and I would love to play them this year. I'm glad they are back at full strength. Would be a classic game, and I think we match up quite well with them.

I don't think SCAR is particularly worried. They beat UCONN 73-57 when UCONN had its full roster playing.

Sorry, I’m not going to join the ucon pity party.
Ucon wouldn’t have to rely on pity to get ranked fairly if they played in a competitive conference wherein they could beat tough teams in their conference tournament to show the selection committee their worth. Also, with all their highly-rated recruits, ucon should have been resilient enough to beat unranked teams this season even with one of their starters injured. Last year Arizona beat ucon and Stanford beat SC to earn their way into the Final Four. Let all teams be ranked and evaluated based on their actual performance, not on ifs or maybes.
On second thought, I’m not sorry at all. I have no pity for a team that lounges in a bunny conference and then cries for pity.

To be clear, my pity isn't for UConn, it's for the 1 seed that has to face them in the Elite Eight or 2 seed in the Sweet Sixteen. And if you know anything about UConn's history in college realignment you'd know that they are not "loung[ing] in a bunny conference." They'd love nothing more than to be in a P5 conference and in the last several rounds of realignment, they've lost out at the musical chairs.
And have any of you watched UConn lately? They are quite a bit better than in November. They have players like Ducharme coming off the bench who can produce offensively better than anyone on our team not named Jones, Brink, or (Lexie) Hull. She's scored game high for UConn six times: 24, 17, 20, 22, 28, and 19. Fudd is coming off the bench and her game highs include 29, 25, 24, and 19. And Aaliyah Edwards, who'd really regressed in the first half of this season relative to last year, has led their rebounding 4 times in their last 9 games. I think they're the deepest team in the country apart from us, but I think they have more players who have the potential to go off bigger in any given game.
If there's one team I'm worried about, it's them.

Unless something changes, we wouldn't be scheduled to face them until the championship game. And yeah, we would need to beat them. But the possibility that UConn gets shipped out to Spokane looms, and I am way less excited about that than 81Alum is. We should beat all comers, for sure, but I kind of feel like everyone has been sleeping on UConn lately because it's been enjoyable to see them down this year. I don't think they are anymore.

I'm with Marty. Seems like the planets are aligning for So. Carolina and I worry more about them.
Also, it may be true that "everyone else on UConn has really developed while Paige has been out". But that doesn't mean they will be better. Role clarity and chemistry are really important on the basketball court. When Paige comes back, it will result in a change to the way the others play. The Warriors are still figuring out how to re-integrate Clay. And of course, there's also the question of whether or not Paige can get back to her usual 100% self. I think there's a real chance UConn could be worse as they try to morph back.

I'm glad this was article was published. It covers a lot of rescheduling topics that have been discussed on this board. There was a post on this board not long ago bashing Graves thinking he was downplaying the significance of Covid by going on record and saying games should be played. People repeatedly take things out of context. Kudos to Graves and Tara for speaking out. I support their stance on this topic. Also confirms Oregon State not rescheduling with us last year despite our attempt to make it happen.
Either Stanford or Oregon have won the Pac12 regular season the past 5 years. Maybe other coaches in the league could learn a thing or two.

And Miami's 1st lead since a brief 2 point lead for less than a minute in mid-1st quarter. After that, it was all Louisville up to a 16 lead in the 3rd. Louisville up by 14 at end of 3rd, and up by 15 at 4:32 to go. Then Miami started chipping away, bit by bit. A real shocker, and should be a cautionary message to any team with a large lead late in a game. 15 point lead, less than 5 minutes to go, and Louisville loses.
