The retweet before this tweet is more telling which lists Stanford at the top of the PAC12 in drafted players. His presumed favorite, USC, only had 3 this year.

In this free interview, Rosen says he is solid but then goes on to praise the Stanford coaching staff and in response to the UCLA reporters on whether there is anything to read into Stanford being at his practice, he says not really. Saying not really is very different from saying no. If we were to offer Rosen, we could have a shot. He has interest in graduating early which works against us but it doesn't sound definitive.

I would think that if we were going to offer Josh Rosen, we would have done it by now.
However, as coaches are fond of saying, "things can change" in the wonderful world of recruiting.
So we'll see what happens.

Nunes and Notthingham were not offered until after their senior seasons after they were committed to Tennessee and UCLA respectively. They were both plan B and you can argue that the staff should have stuck with their initial instincts which had them not offering despite both being highly regarded 4 stars.

In 2009 when Nunes signed, Stanford offered both Matt Barkley and Garrett Gilbert, both of whom were ranked above Nunes. Stanford also signed Taysom Hill in that class (who subsequently signed with BYU after serving his mission) and Darren Daniel (who transferred to Alabama State).
In 2010 when Nottingham signed (Dallas Lloyd was also a QB in that class), Stanford offered Connor Wood (Texas) and Anthony Gonzales (Pitt) who were ranked ahead of Nottingham (at least by Scout).
But we don't really know who the coaches favored among the QBs they offered. The coaches don't really talk about recruits who go other places. However in each class the coaches already had a commitment from another QB when Nunes and Nottingham decided to sign with Stanford.

Not the end all as we know, but 247 is indicating the following predictions:
Canton Kaumatule: 29/29 Stanford
Frank Buncom IV: 13/13 Stanford
These two looking good for 2015 if admitted.

Crazy to think Alabama has 9 players in the ESPN top 100, and we have zero.
Our highest ranked player on the ESPN top 300 rankings right now is #262.
Good thing rankings don't mean anything.

If Stanford gave out scholarships to football players like everyone else (no admissions gauntlet), Stanford would have many more commits, and more higher rated ones.
Just looking at the guys interested, it sure seems there are quite a few top prospects considering Stanford still. Obviously it doesn't mean they will all be admitted, but the data suggests if they visit and apply, it means Stanford is their first choice, because the vast majority of admitted recruits don't go elsewhere if admitted.
The most important thing to watch: are guys who say they are considering Stanford taking two AP classes in their Senior year and/or filling out an application. I wish Mike Farrel of Rivals would ask these questions to Rasheem Green, Trent Irwin, Bryce Love, Osa Masina, and other elite prospects he interviews who are considering Stanford.Â
