As an undergrad I traveled to the 1988 World Expo in Brisbane Australia where I attended a party hosted by Stanford benefactor, Sunset Magazine publisher, and then-ambassador Bill Lane. (Embarrassingly in my youthful ignorance I had no idea who he was and what a rare opportunity I had.)
I asked Mr. Lane who he was going to root for in an upcoming rugby match. His eyes opened wide, he leaned in, and he whispered, "We don't say that here!"
My biggest memories of the trip are that and the fact that Australians completely ruin hamburgers by putting on a giant slab of beet with the juice soaking into the bun.

Some things don't change, apparently. My first week in New Zealand in 1966 I asked for a hamburger and couldn't figure out what the red slice on top was.

Yeah, not a great sign.
I do wonder if there is some draw to going to a school that neither of your brothers attend to sort of make your own name. That would be if all else was equal; obviously I don't thing all else is. However, the lure to stay close to home, be at a school with a great football tradition and tons of rabid fans and a what seems to be a team that is poised to do very well in the Pac-12 south over the next several years, and a school with academics that are trending up... I can see him staying home. I wish him the best -- I hope he has had enough conversations to understand the benefits of joining the "Cardinals," too.

Looks like the predictions on Chris Murray have flipped considerably, from all/mostly all Stanford to mostly UCLA now. Anyone have an idea as to why? (The obvious would be a lack of clarity at OL coach, with Bloomgren leaving, but I don't know if that's why.)

Maybe Door #1? I have no inside knowledge. Just speculating based on similar dynamics in prior years.
We'll know for sure on Saturday. He is slated to announce at the Army All American Game.

Since his App was just submitted hopefully in full its not Door 1 yet. But Murray has always been a very long shot
