Why didn't someone take out Moen?

In 1983 the band did a half time show where GaryT (or someone in a wheelchair holding a trombone and pretending to be GaryT) was given the opportunity to do just that in his most famous play. 

The thrust of the show was that the 1982 loss was all Gary's fault for not taking out Moen in their confrontation.  The band formed a large arrow on the field pointing directly at Gary holding his trombone in a wheel chair.  Suddenly players wearing Cal jerseys started flipping the ball around and running toward the end zone where Gary sat.  At the critical moment Gary rose from his chair and took out the guy wearing Moen's number while the band switched to playing "All Right Now".

Does anyone else remember this?  It's been 32 years, I hope I got the sequence right!

The video linked above showing the 1982 kickoff return is the same video that we've seen for years.

A couple of years ago, some new video surfaced. It's sharper and it zooms in closer to the action. Here's the new video. The full kickoff return starts at about the 2:35 mark.

If you look at it carefully, you can see that the last lateral went forward. It was released from between the 22 and 23 yard lines, and it was caught inside the 21 yard line. [Edit: Should say it was released between the 27 and 28 yard lines, and caught inside the 26 yard line.]

Correct, except that you need to add 5 to those yard lines.
I'd go with launched just inside the 28, caught about the 25.
