Why is this even a question? - Redrum - 10-15-2014
ND deserves to be brutalized by whatever team they are playing. Period.

After dealing with my apparently so-called friends (who were secret south bend homers), I must agree with Redrum. Notre Dame delenda est!

This one's easy.
10. If ND wins, their odds of making the playoffs go up dramatically. I'd prefer to avoid Condi having to waste any brain cycles contemplating those over-rated cheaters (sorry, getting caught while cheating doesn't make you better than other cheaters; it just means you are also incompetent).
9. We rarely lose recruits to FSU. And even when we do, we seem to end up being happy that they didn't come.
8. I don't want to hear about how ND beat the reining national champions for the next 10 months.
7. FSU players don't steal our gals. Not even imaginary ones.
6. FSU at least doesn't wait until the rape victims of their football players commit suicide before they pretend to investigate.
5. I'm perfectly happy to see the 1-17 record ND has against top-5 teams dating back to the mid 1990's get even worse. In fact, that's one too many wins already (even if that lone win was an early-season win over the over-rated 2005 Michigan team that ultimately ended the season 7-5).
4. It's fun to watch ND lose. It's just good, healthy, guilt-free FUN. Why deny yourself that?
3. It would be good to have another data point that shows God really doesn't care about football.
2. Only a masochist would root for ND in this game. They needed major help from the refs to beat us, at home, while our already limited offense was having an off day. Winston and gang will devour them like a bunch of stolen crab legs.
1. It's ND. We don't root for them. It's just not done.

Thanks Somnambule. That certainly thoroughly answers my question posed in this topic. I feel as if a weight has been lifted from my heart. I can now take pleasure in watching FSU destroy the Irish. :P

Condi Rice has a master's from UND. Shouldn't she recuse herself when the golden domers are discussed at the college football playoff committee meetings?

Touche. But I blame auto-correct recommendations (no, really).

Thanks for the clarification, garvin. Although, I could see a scenario where a committee member's emotional loyalties lie with an institution s/he attended, as opposed to the one at which s/he works. For example, off-and-on for the past 26 years I have been employed by the Los Angeles or Santa Barbara campuses of the University of California system. But my loyalties have been, and will always be, with Stanford. On the other hand, I will never be a member of the college football playoff committee.
I wonder if these potential/imagined conflicts of interest will come up once the committee starts its deliberations and rankings. Hey, if it leads to an 8-team playoff that ensures inclusion of the Big 5 conference champions plus 3 at-large teams, then I'm all for it.

This is really tough. As much as I dislike Winston, he is likely gone after the year. Notre Dame, and its many annoying fans, will be here forever.
Go Florida State!

I. Can't. Root. For. Jameis.
The deferred pleasure of seeing a downtrend extend for the Irish is trumped by the short term joy of watching one entitled football jerk go down in napalm driven flames while the football world cheers.
Go Irish.
It's a false choice of course when we could just as easily root for a city destroying meteor to take out Tallahassee right before kick-off.

I'm rooting for a sinkhole to swallow Tallahassee with only JPR1 escaping with friends and family.

Like I said in a previous post, mid-October is way too early to be scoreboard watching for the purpose of evaluating Stanford's playoff hopes.
But I am rooting for utter and total chaos in the FBS universe--the Pac-12 has already obliged--with no undefeated team at the end of the regular season.
Except for Marshall, of course.

Take all that seismic pressure in northern California and loan it to Florida.

Hey, thanks, CI. I've got my bags packed. Probably a better chance that a tornado will devastate us, though. We had a warning the other day.
What's the old saying? Tallahassee is a little piece of Georgia tacked on to the state to make life miserable for the rest of Florida.
Apparently denizens of other states too.

So I was wrong. It is only the 2nd quarter but I find that I can't pull for Florida State, no matter how much I dislike the Irish. I dislike Winston that much more.

I think the worst possible outcome.
FSU looked OK, and likely will not lose in ACC play. However, South Bend U looked OK and was playing on the road. In some ways, South Bend U was an unlucky loser.
Not hard to imagine a scenario where both schools take slots in the football playoff. And that would make it rather unlikely that any Pac-12 team would get in since South Bend U could have three wins against Pac-12 schools.
