Fact:  QBs make more mistakes when uncomfortable, especially college ones.  Fact: more pressure speeds up decision making and makes QBs uncomfortable.  Fact:  When all is on the line you want the QB uncomfortable as possible. Fact: Notre Dame rushed more than three on their game deciding play and forced a bad play.

I suspect that Coach Shaw will deny, deny, deny that a three man rush was a problem in this situation, and that we won't see a three man rush in this situation again for the rest of the year.

Re: Back to the Future - Hulk01 - 10-05-2014

Our running backs averaged 3.3 yards per carry, with a long run of 11 yards, and the OL set us back 15 more yards in false starts.  Ben Muth hit it: Our OL is still far more potential than performance.  And ding them 15 more yards in false start penalties (Hooper's third in five games, tying--I think--Kevin Danser's season record.  Then ding them more for four sacks.  That's seven bad OL plays--and it would have been eight had Hogan not managed that unreal escape in the fourth quarter.

Our offense starts up front, and our up front made every other offensive player's job much harder.

The only bright side to our OL troubles - Redrum - 10-05-2014

Is maybe Andrus Peat will stick around for a senior year to boost his draft ratings.  He certainly didn't consistently block yesterday like he was a high pick destined for the first two rounds.

And, that's about it.  When it comes to positives, that's all I've got.  Our defense will play their hearts out and a lot of games will be lost because of the Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight.

It looked to me like Golson was particularly vulnerable to blitzing and that it thres him off his game.

Golson was awful yesterday when he was throwing on the run or off his back foot.  But when he was able to step into a throw he was pretty good.  Rushing 3 was just stupid, stupid, stupid.

I will note that the winning touchdown was scored when Golson was flushed out of the pocket and throwing on the run.
