Would a coach like Lupoi work at a place like Stanford? Just wondering about what makes him tick.
What makes Lupoi tick - Redrum - 01-18-2012
1)Â Money, obviously
2)Â And eye for the Main Chance...and it wasn't at Kal.
3)Â Willingness to (ahem)
do what it takes.. Tedford might have ordered Fake Injurygate, but Lupoi was the one who told the player to take a dive.Â

This is what really surprises me. I figured for sure Tosh's next move was defensive coordinator someplace--that he was willing to make a lateral move speaks to the cash money being thrown his way and also (I presume) a lack of faith in the future of the 59ers.
As to the question "would a coach like Lupoi work at a place like Stanford?" the answer is "obviously." In fact, if there's anyone Lupoi reminds me of, it's a certain James Joseph Harbaugh, Esquire.

Alums coaching across the Bay are not uncommon. The main reason - there is a job opening! #2 - geographic comfort. West coast athletes are like other grads. They like staying in the area.
Example - the staff and team have been very complimentary of the C.al alum on the women's hoops staff -

In an interview last year, Lauren Greif said, "I feel very much at home at Stanford and in Cardinal Red."
It goes both ways. Stanford alum David Esquer (who was the starting shortstop on the 1987 Stanford national championship team) will soon begin his 13th year as the coach of the B.ears baseball team.
I live in LA where you see less cross-over among coaches. UCLA alum Ken Norton Jr who coached at USC under Carroll is the only one I can recall.
