I don't know that anyone on this board has been noticing, but U-Dub had been losing some of their recruits to UCLA after Mora took over and hired away the DB coach, who had been a key recruiter for Sarkisian. Now Sark responds by poaching Lupoi, who will no doubt bring along some of his recruits from School near Oakland. This is verrry interesting, and as everyone had noted, shoud put us in good position with Shittu. Also, I would think if Kaumatule gets admitted that School near Oakland will not be as much of a threat with Lupoi gone.
the UC system's highest paid employee has had trouble fielding a really quality team in the last few years, even while being propped up by the recruiting skills of Lupoi, and he rates as one of the best recruiters in the country. He better nab another ace recruiter from someone else.
Q: does this effect Matt Cochran and his thinking about Stanford? My sense is the ship may have sailed for him at Stanford, with all of the high quality linemen already committed or (fingers crossed) commiting in the next couple of weeks. Don't know how serious Cochran was about us anyway.

The only guy USC really, really wants is Shaq Thompson.
Shittu seems to be more of an obsession for
us, but not the bozos who bothered to post on USC boards. Which means exactly, what? Not
disinterested in Aziz, just not all that wound up about improved chances with Kal possibly out of the picture.

RR - I had the impression U.SC was very interested in DT Ellis McCarthy, who was an SC lean well into December before The Tosh turned him to Bearville. This is a plug & play DT and they have no other DT in the class at this time.
Maybe I'm just missing on the number or reallys, but I'm guess that the Trogens will be working him in earnest.

Might be a time span thing. only surveyed
today's comments. On one of the boards a bunch of guys discussed/ dismissed him as a head case. That, alone, might make him a perfect Trojan.

It's somewhat interesting to compare JeffTedford's first 5 seasons to his last 5 seasons. Note especially the difference in his conference record:
2002-2006:Â
43-20 (.683)Â Overall
27-14 (.659)Â Conference
Finished in the top 4 of the conference every year -- 4th-tie, 3rd-tie, 2nd, 4th-tie, and 1st-tie
Finished in final AP rankings 3 times -- #9 in 2004, #25 in 2005, #14 in 2006
2007-2011:
36-28 (.563)Â Overall
21-24 (.467)Â Conference
Finished in the top 4 of the conference once -- 7th-tie, 4th, 5th-tie, 8th, and 6th-tie (4th in division)
Finished in final AP rankings 0 times
And in the last two seasons:
2010-2011:
12-13 (.480)Â Overall
7-11Â (.389)Â Conference

Grey area on sour grapes for picking C.al or actual head case.
Regardless, enjoyed your point and we've got no dog in this particular dust up.

Terry's breakdown is good, but I think there's a precise moment at which the Tedsel broke down: the Oregon State game in 2007. That's when the team regularly started disappointing, and I think that experience broke him emotionally. I may be speculating, but my guess is that T.edford thought, "If I can't break through with Aaron Rodgers, and I can't break through in the craziest year in college football ever, when exactly am I going to break through?"
Since then, 59ers have been 59erin' it up. It's not as if they've lacked for talent since then--they've had high preseason expectations that have been unmet, and the NFL's taken a fair number of their players. Something's gone wrong in the middle, and its name is probably T.edford.
