Love this quote from Spencer's latest LinkedIn post, about proving yourself as a two-way player in the NBA:
"Looking back, I'm grateful for it all.
When you've had to prove everything, you stop waiting for validation.
You learn to carry your own belief.
And that's a foundation no contract can give or take away."
As for Maxime, great to see his progress as well. My son's fraternity is heading up en masse to watch him play this weekend - they were pledges together! Great to see the Stanford connections running strong with both Maxime and Spencer!

For the season he's shooting 57% from the floor, which ESPN says is 12th best in the entire NBA.
A seven footer who can shoot like that can have a long career in the NBA.
Super happy that Maxime is rising to the occasion. My remark about Sabonis returning to health in late January was perhaps not an actual return to health--he lasted three games before undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus, so I guess he was trying to play through it. The Kings may be trying to trade him. Here's hoping Maxime can improve his defensive reputation as well!

Raynaud is back in the top 5 of the Kia NBA rookie ladder:
NBA Rookie Ladder
The top 4 were all top 4 draft picks. Raynaud was #42.

Aside from Maxime, that whole top ten list was drafted within the first 15 picks. Of course, Maxime was pick #42 for a player who wears #42 in the NBA and did so in college. Very exciting to see him racking up double doubles!

And, of course, 42 is the answer to the ultimate question of Life, The Universe & Everything.

Spencer Jones is still making the most of his opportunity too. The Nuggets have gotten healthier, and Jones is earning playing time over a 2023 first round pick, Julian Strawther, who appears to be out of the rotation. My fingers are crossed that Jones will remain in the rotation, even if at reduced minutes, when Peyton Watson returns.

Reynaud with 32 pts and 10 rbs vs Wemby, but Kings were crushed.

My guess is that when starting guards Westbrook and DeRozan combine for 3-10 shooting, you're going to have a bad day. And those two guys had the two worst +/- ratings on the team. Maxime's +/- was in the neighborhood of Achiuwa's, and Achiuwa had fewer minutes, so I'm happy that Maxime's defense seems to be holding its own.
Also, San Antonio shot 25-49 from 3pt range for 51%. That's just bonkers and also not on Maxime.

He followed that up with 30 points against the 76ers. Again the Kings were crushed.
At 42nd overall pick, Maxime is looking like the steal of the draft. Color me unsurprised.

Yes, I was among the many Stanford/Warriors fans disappointed when the dubs didn't find a way to take Raynaud. After seeing Lacob and Dunleavy at so many games that season it's not like they didn't know his game.
In the Dubs defense, they didn't have any low picks and Will Richard is looking like a decent player for Pick 56.

The French have some really good idiomatic taunts in that category. The most natural all-purpose French trashtalk/street talk equivalent is still:
C’est qui le patron? Less popular are:
C’est qui le patron ? — “Who’s the boss?” and
Tu vois qui commande ? — “See who’s in charge?” and
Qui c’est le chef ? — “Who’s the chief/boss?”

But they could have taken him. Instead, they traded down and took Richard and wasted the other pick on a loser. Obviously, Maxime could have been useful, you know, for a W's team that would trade a kidney for a 4/5 who could play some low post, score, and floor space.
The list of quality big men who the W's failed to draft since they took Robert Parish is just, so so sad. Similarly, the list of useless big guys they did draft is equally embarrassing. #JoeBarelyCares

Maxime in March: 32.9 minutes per game, 4 double doubles, avg. 18.9 pts, 8.6 reb, 61.8 % on FGs, 88% FTs.
The Kings have actually won 4 games already in March, which makes it their best month of the season so far (16 game losing streak from mid-Jan. to late Feb.!)

Maxime - a seven footer that passes and blocks well AND shoots a quality three pointer is rare. Shoulda been a Warrior.

Speaking of that unique combination of height and skills, Brooke Lopez is now the only NBA player -- ever -- with at least 18,000 points, 2,000 blocks and 1,000 made three pointers.
Brook Lopez sets NBA record in win vs. Mavericks
Hope Maxime gets there as well...

Channel-surfing and stopped at LA Clippers vs Sacramento Kings. Raynaud going against Brook Lopez.
4pts vs 9pts at the half, but the announcers were saying that Maxime will be in the NBA for a long time.
RE: Spencer Jones and Maxime Raynaud: NBA starters -

Raynaud had a double double (11pts, 13 rebs) while Lopez scored no more (9pts, 2 rebs) but the Clippers made 20 treys and waxed the Kings 138-109.
