How about Skip Christ. Cal to Stanford with maybe the military in-between?

Quote:Bernadel . . . was extremely productive for the Panthers over the past couple years. This past season he had a breakout year, recording 103 total tackles, eight tackles for a loss, and also adding 1.5 sacks.

Something to note is that he tagged new Stanford defensive coordinator Bobby April III who is renowned for his recruiting abilities. Adding Bernadel who should be an instant starter helps bolster a linebacker core that lost a handful of players to the transfer portal.

Recent four-star, but had a bit of a blah year with Tennessee. Interesting incomer.

their top 3 RBs appear to all be returning

- Wright 801 yards
- Small 706 yards
- Sampson 411 yards

https://utsports.com/sports/football/stats/2022

so he is probably looking for playing time

plus there are three other Tennessee running backs in the portal, gives an idea of how crowded that position is.

they also signed a RB recruit last week

RE: Landmark transfer - CardinalSagehen - 12-27-2022

Great to see two guys admitted to Stanford as undergrad transfers that are not from Harvard and that we didn't offer in high school. Presumably, they are doing well with college coursework and achieving a strong GPA. Regardless, this is clearly a change of tide.

I will be truly impressed if we pull someone in at the level of Austin Jones - someone that would be receiving NIL money. But this is a great start.

Coming out of high school he had offers from Duke, Michigan, Princeton, Vanderbilt, and Yale, so academics should be fine.

Geaux Cardinal!

does anyone know if they have actually been admitted?

RE: Landmark transfer - Jamesy - 12-27-2022

And are these two enrolling winter quarter or not until next fall?

RE: Landmark transfer - 82lsju - 12-28-2022

Williams-Thomas to enroll in Jan

RE: Landmark transfer - AlbanyCardinal - 12-29-2022

Given how far along these incoming transfers are, seems likely Shaw (and Muir) got the go-ahead much earlier in the year to pursue candidates that met certain requirements presumably. I wonder if there's a number out there or if it's more open-ended. Good news, however it played out.

I thought that potential transfers could only be contacted once they enter the portal

RE: Landmark transfer - AlbanyCardinal - 12-29-2022

No idea, but that would make sense. Then, they figured out some way to expedite the application/admissions process, or else these candidates are being announced as committed before admissions has made any assurances, which seems unlikely to me.

It appears Williams-Thomas is admitted, the other two maybe not given no release from the AD, we have high school recruits who announce they are “committed” before they are admitted, but that cycle can be much longer.  If he entered the portal on Dec 5, was contacted Dec 6, that’s still just three weeks to apply (including getting recommendations) and admitted.

Not sure how contacting potential grad transfers works

RE: Landmark transfer - BobK - 12-29-2022

Bank will be visiting in January.
We have had many commit prior to acceptance. We have 9 2024 baseball commits plus 5 for 2025. Now 4 softball 2024 commits.
Heck a 2025 WBB commit

RE: Landmark transfer - AlbanyCardinal - 12-29-2022

Sure, but it feels different with transfers. Maybe it's not, though, I've no idea.

RE: Landmark transfer - SamuelMcF - 12-29-2022

Why do people think Bank has committed? He hasn't.
