Stanford gets its road win against the Beavers 1-0, as Alana Vawter throws another gem.
Not a great weekend when you lose a series, but all things considered, Card did enough
to stay on path toward NCAA tournament.

So weird seeing Arizona last place in standings, 0 league wins
RE: Stanford Softball -

Stanford wins Game #1 of its three game series on the Farm against Utah
4-2. Kaitlyn Lim hit a grand slam, and ace Alana Vawter went 6 innings,
allowing only 2 runs.
Cardinal in solid shape, now 22-8 on the season, and 2-2 in Pac-12 play (Stanford up to 4th in conference standings).
RE: Stanford Softball -

Stanford struggled in the circle today against a Utah team that can score runs
when they are at the top of their game, getting run-ruled 11-2.
Cardinal face a really important game tomorrow to decide the series;
need to win this home series against one of the weaker Pac-12 sides.

A recent ncaa projection had every Pac 9 team In The tournament except …Utah.

After getting swept by Oregon State at home, I would now argue Cal is closer to being
outside the tourney than Utah (though the Bears are certainly a bubble team like Utah).
Utah is a solid team, with an RPI coming into weekend of 42, so if they are .500 or better
with an RPI like that at the end of the season, I expect they will be in the tourney.
Given how tough they scheduled in non-conference, and how difficult the Pac is, the biggest
challenge will be staying above .500.
Stanford wins the Sunday contest and the series 1-0 behind
Alana Vawter's gem.
Cardinal do just enough this weekend to get the outcome they needed
and keep their push to the NCAA tourney on track.
However, Stanford is going to have to be better offensively;
Cardinal let too many opportunities go by today, in part maybe because
they took too many pitches and weren't aggressive enough at the plate.

And here comes ucla. Almost no hitting this weekend except Lim’s grand slam
RE: Stanford Softball -
d4cohn - 04-04-2022
Stanford with a nice boost in RPI from 41 late last week to 35 after the series win over Utah.
Cardinal likely will be on the cutline between a #2 or a #3 regional seed in mock brackets this week (I would lean to #2 regional seed),
but would most importantly be safely in the field if the tournament started today.
RE: Stanford Softball -

Stanford nearly pulled off by far its biggest win of the year in the bottom of the 7th,
but Kaitlyn Lim's hit was caught with a fantastic over the shoulder catch,
resulting in merely a Sac Fly and tied game.
UCLA added 2 in T8 that the Card could not overcome.
Alana with another fantastic start, but a little too much offense for UCLA,
as Bruins pull out a 3-1 win in extra innings.

What a great game. Excellent D by both teams Eck with an Incredible catch in left center colliding with our CFer both on the ground and Eck holds up the ball
So close to the win.
RE: Stanford Softball -

Stanford with an incredible performance today against #2 UCLA, as Emily Young's clutch hit
provides the difference in a deserved 1-0 win.
Reagan Krause had,
by far, the best outing (actually came on in relief of Tatum Boyd) of her collegiate career, throwing a 2 hit shutout.
What a great bounce back from last week's rough outing against Utah, but she more than
made up for it with today's performance.
Stanford has more than gone toe-to-toe with the national championship contenders and
can think of winning tomorrow's contest to win the series with ace Alana Vawter back in the circle.

Hi Bob, no, I wish I could be there, but I am in SoCal. Maybe regionals if we host (we have some work
to do to improve our RPI to get there though; have to pass ~10-15 teams to have a chance).

Stanford completes a stunning performance this weekend with another 1-0 win,
winning the series against #2 (and national title contender, who prior to Saturday had won
25 consecutive games) UCLA.
This is absolutely massive for the Cardinal's postseason resume; they will jump a number of spots in the RPI rankings,
and undoubtedly will be ranked again in most/all national polls.
Cardinal now have a winning record in Pac-12 play (5-4), sit 4th place in the conference, and have a legitimate chance
to host a regional for the first time since either 2010 or 2011.

brobdingnagian! Congrats to the team. The dark period of Stanford softball is receding farther and farther into the distance.

Really enjoyed it Da Bears. Thank you
What a win And yes BC so very close to a sweep
RE: Stanford Softball -

As a result of the big series win against UCLA, Stanford is now #28 in RPI (released today). As such,
at the moment, the Cardinal would not be in contention to host a regional if the season ended today.
However, the Cardinal have several additional series to continue to climb the rankings and
better build that case (starting this Thursday with the rivalry series at Cal).

Hated to be the one top post but lost to cal 5-2 today. Big setback.
