Keefe has been playing better defense.

We just can't get Jones any open 3s.

Delaire 3-pointer at the horn for the win!

Forget what I said about Delaire. :-)

STANFORD WINS!!!

Delaire played his best half of the season and Stanford (mostly) cut down on its tendency to turn the ball over.

Strange last possession for the Ducks, who in a tie game abstained from passing the ball in favor of a contested three-point shot.

Stanford got the (clutch) rebound, called time out with three second left and Delaire nailed the three for the biggest win of the year.

*exhales*

Glad for the win, but why the hell did we make it so hard on ourselves.  Delaire wins it with a buzzer beater.

At one point in the 2nd half we had a 14 point lead.  We blew that lead and had to pull a rabbit out of our hat to win.  Duck tears.

Keefe with 8 rebounds.  He played great.

Every time Walton is on the call I just mute it and listen to music while watching the game. I was surprised to see Keefe starting in place of Reynaud but after seeing how big the Oregon post players were I realized it was just a simple matchup scenario and boy did Keefe go to work on the block tonight. He was my MVP of the game, even though Delaire hit the winning shot, because Keefe contributed to so many great defensive stops. I will say he needs to work on his rebounding. I think he finished with eight boards tonight but could have had a lot more if he would go up strong with two hands instead of trying to box out and grabbing the ball with one hand.

Overall a great game minus the typical headache of sloppiness that always happens in the second half. Just happy to see them sustain the lead the overcome Oregon's runs. Go Card!

Great day for Stanford basketball with wins by the women and the men.

Agreed, and I got to watch both of them in real-time which isn’t always possible on Sundays. I’m glad i saw the Delaire interview despite Walton being the interviewer. Go Cardinal!

A W is a W.  Enjoy the moment. But, I’ll add, this Stanford team is pretty good.

Great win, have a feeling Oregon will be a lot better later in the season which makes it even bigger.

Few observations:

Spencer may not be shooting as well as he used to, but he’s become a fierce defender and a really smart and clutch player.

For the first time in forever we have a true rotation of contributors. Ángel, Taitz, Murell,Keefe, and now Silva can all be relied on and even provide a spark.

After Ingram, Reynaud may have the most potential on the team. Keefe earned his minutes today,  but Reynaud has brobdingnagian potential.

Ingram is awesome, what a talent and such a smart player. Surprised we had him inbound on the last play essentially removing him as a scorer, but there wasn’t time to create and jaiden was the best at that today. Great call by Haas.

This team will get better, who knows how fast, but much hope after a clutch win.

Happy for Delaire, but you are right, he tries to do too much off the dribble. Also, it seems to me his doesn't have the same hops he had the last two years. Takes great effort just to get off the floor. But, good for him and maybe this will put a little rein on trying to do too much.

Keefe plays excellent positional defense and today was his best. But, honestly, my hands are stronger than his, and I'm much older. He needs that squeeze exercise thing in his pocket.

Well, have you seen one screen set for Jones this season? Mystifying. He's a catch and shoot 3 pt shooter not an off the dribble shooter.

Ingram was wide open for a quick return pass at the top of the 3 point line (he darted past his defender after the pass) if Delaire wanted to pass back.  Could that have been a play option? (that would have been very tight on time though).

I was only able to watch 13 seconds of the game.  Glad I did.  An unrelated annoyed mindset completely vanished when that ball went in. =)

RE: MBB: Stanford vs Oregon, Sunday, Dec. 12 @ 4 pm, Pac-12 Network - M T - 12-13-2021

I watched virtually the whole game with the sound on.  I've been annoyed with Bill Walton's jabber in the past, but I was ok with it today.  Maybe the fact that Stanford was doing well most of the game helped.   He certainly says a lot of positive things about a lot of things (including Las Vegas and GSB today).  But he did point out things that weren't the best (Stanford's offense was not working in the 4th,  the choice of the last shot for Oregon, etc.)

Lexie Hull got a nice tip of the hat from him, as well as Stanford WBB & Tara.  And Nneka (who was at the WBB game) too. He also said that Haase was a good (or was it great) coach.  He liked the last Stanford play and complimented Haase on drawing that up.

If you missed it, Adam Keefe was at the game for his son's first start.

So, if you watch a replay, try leaving the sound on and see what you think.  Maybe Walton's changing his style a bit.
