Dennis Awtrey, Bud and Ralph Ogden - Bay Area HS guys from my era. SCU was as good as any hoops team in the country, except, of course, the Lew Alcindor-led Bruins.

Glad 2 non-big conference schools, Santa Clara and Marshall, won the soccer titles.

Congrats to the Broncos! Always glad to see a Bay Area, non-kal team win a championship :) SCU won their first NCAA championship in 2001 when their women's soccer team defeated UNC, 1-0. They've got their second championship now, twenty years later.
Also, this is perhaps a small bit of cheer for SCU alumna Julie Ertz (married to Zach Ertz). Julie suffered a knee injury in the Chicago Red Stars' 0-5 loss to Portland on Sunday, and she'll need an MRI to determine the extent of the injury, which is hopefully not going to prevent her from being ready for her US Olympic team duties.

I watched the PK video. The Florida State goalkeeper guessed wrong every time. Or maybe the Santa Clara players saw something that tipped them off which way she was inclined to go.
Always exciting to see the underdog win in a close sports event.

Less so when Stanford is the favourite.
