RE: Tara - cardcrimson - 04-05-2021

Oh Tara, oh oh
You squeeze my heart
And then you let it go
Ooh Tara my oh my
I can't help falling
No i wouldn't try

I can't explain no i don't know how
And all my talking means nothing now
It only frightens you anyhow
You'll never know what you've done to me
The agony and the ecstasy
Ooh Tara it's alright
But i miss you tonight

I don't expect you to understand
The thrill i feel when i hold your hand
But this is something i never planned
You're thinking of me as just a friend
My heart is breaking i can't pretend
Ooh Tara it's for real
I can't help how i feel

Has it even crossed your mind, What more can I do? I just won another national championship. Maybe this would be a time to say, I've had a great career, I've done a lot, maybe it's time to ride into the sunset. Has that crossed your mind at all?

TARA VANDERVEER: Not during the game, but maybe I'll think about it later. Right now I am very excited about what we accomplished, and I'm really excited about the team that we have in that locker room and the young people that are committed to Stanford.

I'm happy. I'm enjoying it. I don't know if I can go through another COVID year, so I hope everybody is wearing their mask. Let's get better so we can get back to normal.
I heard that in the press conference, transcribed it and posted it in the game thread.  I was somewhat disappointed in the response.  It reminded me too much of Jim Harbaugh's answer after the Orange Bowl.

But Tara probably was just being honest.  This was no doubt the hardest job she has had in decades, and she might want to know where we are with COVID before committing to doing it all over again.  If things look like they are getting back to normal I think the odds are good she will stay on, simply because she loves it so much.  Plus, retiring now would put the lie to what she said--that she doesn't do it for the championships.

I think she stays on.  If variants or whatever gives us another COVID year, then she might retire.

The two younger Ogwumike sisters played at Rice, but of course that's a very tenuous connection to west coast hoops, if any.

Tara basically answers the question a bit after the 3-minute mark in yesterday’s Warriors pre-game show (Jennifer Azzi is one of the commentators). Sounds like she’d like to retire in front of her fans.
