Stanford's ability to push tempo and the defensive pressure that Wilson and Williams can put on the Legler-Walker sisters should make Stanford a strong favorite.
WSU Coach Kamie Ethridge won the Wade Trophy her senior year and led the Texas women's basketball team to their first and only national championship in 1986.
Also, beating any team twice in 2 days is a brobdingnagian challenge. Then throw in this team, that will be SO hungry for their first win. AND the fact that both games are in their arena, a million miles from anything.
This has all sorts of upset potential and I will be VERY VERY happy if we can eke out two wins in the Palouse.

The win over Oregon sans one starter and with a shortened bench shows a lot of maturity for a young bunch. Special kudos to Jerome, Williams and Wilson for providing genuine leadership . BUT , and there is always a “but”, I fear that being forever road warriors will take its toll. Being away from training facilities, weight room and “home” takes a toll and it has to effect the team. That and the fact that Pullman is a tough, tough place to get to and the thought of playing back to back games In The other guys gym is daunting.
I agree - not having training facilities for recovery and therapy, etc. as well as training table and staff - let alone being able to sleep in ones bed
takes its toll. Have any of you travelled on business for over a month, let alone much longer? I have not.

Actually, being on the road for extended periods can be an advantage. It allows you to focus on the one task that put you there . . . basketball. Back on campus there are unmeasurable distractions. Regarding facilities, I would dare to presume that our staff is making sure that our women are getting everything they need to stay healthy and fit.
To answer your question, I have been on the road competing in a highly physical professional sport for several months consecutively. I would say that my performance did not fall off in relation to time spend away from my home base. However, mine was an individual sport. I would think that in a team sport situation the distractions inherent while on campus would be exponentially more likely to interfere with overall team performance.

I wouldn't make presumptions about the facilities or ability to maintain the normal standards for prep, training and practice. The coaches doing these travelling road shows have noted that the conditions are not that harsh, so they are not complaining. However, their notes about the challenges have often included those behind the scenes elements. It has been great that everyone has managed for ~30 days, but I really worry about maintaining that for 3-4 months.
However, the WSU back-to-back trip is fine with me. Is it really all that bad if the team loses one or both games?
They are almost certain to be a #1 seed even with a few hiccups.
I would prefer they focus on being ready to go in March and spend less time on the day to day issues in January.

Color me hopeful but worried. The Cougs win over Arizona is helpful. We won’t be looking past this bunch. Washington’s weakness helps too as it allows prep to focus on Washington . Hopefully, I will look back at this post and laugh at my lack of confidence.. but for now, I’m scared.
The only blemish during the first championship season was a loss at UW. IIRC, bad weather made for a treacherous trip from Pullman to Seattle, leaving the team vulnerable. Hey, if a loss in the northwest is the price for winning a natty, I’ll take it!

Ouch... If all other games go as scheduled, Oregon State will have just 5 conference games at the end of the week, ASU just 6, while Utah has 10.
I don't see any way that many games can be rescheduled.
