"Walla Walla County officials recall claims people were hosting coronavirus parties"

That's the same link as Snorlax94's, MT.

Anyway, I think you were going to link an article that mentions that the public health officials walked back their claims about coronavirus parties.  Instead, they were apparently "innocent endeavors"

Interpretation of the intent of the party aside, in a time of sheltering at home and limited gathering size, not sure how any party is "innocent".

I didn't realize it was the same link.  The content had changed from what it said when Snorlax posted (and quoted), and when I posted the (updated) title.

According to a Yahoo poll, only 55% of Americans, said they would get vaccinated against Covid-19. 19% said they would not.

Thanks for the depressing news. Now I know we are screwed.

But it is the more progressive (often affluent) areas that seem to have the most concentrated anti-vaxx sentiment. Manhattan and rich suburbs of NYC, Seattle, Portland, Austin, Asheville (NC), and I believe the Bay Area, as well.

Your belief about the Bay area is correct. According to this 218 SFGate article, the heaviest concentration of students claiming exemption is in Sonoma County, with only 36% of kindergartners at one charter school in Sebastapol having all required vaccinations: All 10 kindergartens with the highest rates of vaccine exemptions are in N. California. The article appears to be based on LA Times article. There's a list of worst offenders in northern CA at the end. I would view those schools as no-go zones.

Fauci says Covid-19 vaccine may not get US to herd immunity if too many people refuse to get it: https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/28/health/fauci-coronavirus-vaccine-contact-tracing-aspen/index.html

"Dr. Anthony Fauci says he would "settle" for a Covid-19 vaccine that's 70% to 75% effective, but that this incomplete protection, coupled with the fact that many Americans say they won't get a coronavirus vaccine, makes it "unlikely" that the US will achieve sufficient levels of immunity to quell the outbreak."

States are going to have to pass laws making it illegal for kids to go to school or for employers to employ people not vaccinated.
