Stepfan Taylor is quite possibly the most under appreciated player in my years of watching Stanford football. He did everything well. In 2012 he and Ertz was the offense. He is Stanford s all-time leading rusher. If whoever replaces Love next year is as good as Taylor Ill be thrilled
I agree. If Taylor had not come immediately after Gerhart, we'd be talking about him as one of the best ever.

This is exactly my point. Whoever comes after Love (and McCaffrey) will be in that unenviable position of Taylor. They could be a top 10 tailback in the country and still not stand out. We're used to players who deserve the Voldemort, like Gerhart.

While we might have thought that after McCaffrey, look at where we are with Love.

No doubt one of the beauties of college football is that young players make dramatic improvements year to year, or major increases in contribution when given opportunity. However, I think most people on the board were reasonably optimistic about Love replacing McCaffrey, except for questions about how he would hold up physically with increased workload. There were more concerns on the board about replacing Soloman Thomas, due to the expected drop-off to his replacements. Love has certainly exceeded expectations, but over his first two years he clearly demonstrated explosiveness and big play ability, and he averaged 7.8 ypc as a freshman and 7.0 ypc as a sophomore.
