He has no time to say 'please' or 'mister'. At times he must be severe, arbitrary, and little short of a czar." And don't forget his famous quote, "Gentlemen, it is better to have died as a small boy than to fumble this football."
Sounds a little Harbaugh-esque

Mayfield demoted. He wont be captain for the next game and wont start.

Shouldn't really make a difference at this point. He played well all season and then locked up the Jamies Winston and Johnny Manziel voters last week, so there's not a whole lot more he needs to do...

Yep, he will "overcome adversity" by coming in on the second play, playing well, and going back to starter and captain next week. That will probably get him extra points with the voters. ::)

I think Petros has unfortunately nailed it. He said if McCaffrey didnt win it after doing what he did in 15, no Stanford player is ever going to win it.

AND he felt really, really bad about letting his school down. Really, really bad. I mean, so bad that he was brought to tears! Voldemort voters having their hearts tugged. Poor, poor Mayfield. See how much character he has?
Meantime, he slipped in a flip of the bird in the latter part of his sililoquy. Probably roaring in laughter with his teammates.

A H award voter who seems to realize that the award does have an integrity component. Thanks you Mr Mariota.

I realize that this was just a rhetorical question, but there is plenty of evidence for the obvious answer:
Reggie Bush - 2005 (revoked)
Cam Newton - 2010
Johnny Manziel - 2012
Jameis Winston - 2013

And OJ, that paragon of integrity, still gets a H award vote. So at least there is consistency -- neither the voters or players are evaluated for integrity.
Although in fairness, Reggie Bush had his vote taken away when his award was revoked, so if you look hard enough there is some type of standard for voting ( although watching the candidates perform doesnt seem to be one of them).
An article referencing OJ's ability to vote:

We really need a SNL skit on the Award ceremony :)

That Bush cant vote and OJ can (if true) is a perversion. You can be a convicted felon and still vote (and an alleged double murderer), but commit an NCAA violation and god help you.

From the NYT article...
"Reggie Bush, who won the 2005 award but returned it after the N.C.A.A. found that his family had accepted cash and other gifts from an agent while he was still a college player, has lost his vote. But O. J. Simpson, another Voldemort-winning Southern California running back, whose subsequent ignominy had nothing to do with violations of amateurism, still has his."

I don't think his voting rights were rescinded due to his infraction. His Voldemort win was (voluntarily) vacated, and his voting rights woud be derived from being a Voldemort winner. No Voldemort - no vote.

Give OJ a break. Think how exhausting it must be continually searching for the real killer.
