VPs don't win that many presidential elections in absolute terms, but if I wanted to be President (which I don't), I would rather be VP than hold any other office to build a resume. This article is hardly exhaustive, but it was the first thing that popped up on Google about VPs getting their party's nomination and getting elected:Â

My 20 year old just taught me a new acronym, SJW or "Social Justice Warriors."
Doesn't an acronym have to be pronounceable?

Yes, that would be an initialism.

There's a tendency for party control to flip when there's not an incumbent running, so a sitting VP would be at a disadvantage there. So tactically there are multiple considerations. Being VP gives the highest chance of securing a nomination if you seek it, but because you're running after a same-party incumbent you're less likely to win office. If you're a senator/governor/whoever, you can sit out until you're challenging the other team (at least if you're young enough). Of course, unless you're Nixon these windows don't come up that often, so you'd usually take it if you can get it, unless being President isn't your goal.

Along those lines, I wonder who would ally him/herself with The Donald as a running mate? Particularly given the damage it could do to one's brand.
Christie has sold his soul to Trump, although they don't get much geographical diversity that way.

Christie will be his AG if he wins, but Trump needs someone from the south. TED CRUZ!!

Well, tonight supposedly Trump has won Connecticutt, Delaware, Rhode Island, Maryland and Pennsylvania. HRC won Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania, Sanders is leading in Connecticutt and won Rhode Island.Â
On the Repub side, that gives Trump 927 delegates, needing 310 delegates to give him the necessary 1,237 to secure the nomination. There are 815 remaining delegates, so Trump needs 38% of the remaining delegates to get the 50%+ to win a first ballot nomination.
Trump is predicted to win Indiana, West Virginia, New Jersey, Oregon, Washington and the big prize, California. Cruz is expected to win Nebraska, Montana, New Mexico and of course, all remaining unpledged delegates.

My choice foe Trump would be Stanley McCrystal. Pluses would be that he was fired by Obama and is called 'The finest warrior and leader of men" by Robert Gates. Minus are is that he isn't from the South (Kansas) and that he still has the alleged Tillman coverup on his unofficial record. Perhaps too outspoken and who needs two Type A's on the ticket.
Best would be Nikki Haley but she won't do it.

Cruz has named Iowa alum Carly Fiorina as his VP choice.

Ben Muth tweeted that this makes sense since we know that Carly Fiorina likes jumping on doomed bandwagons headed for a grim death (from Pasadena this year).

Maybe the LSJUMB can play some of their more recent hits (Farmers Only.com theme) for the "Cruz-arina" campaign coming out party!  I'm sure they will be invited.

Its no secret that Ted Cruz has some trouble with likeability, the Republican strategist Harland Dorrinson said. What better way to fix that than by choosing Carly Fiorina, a person everyone is absolutely crazy about?
