I doubt that it\'s Petersen. BSU\'s OC went to take the same post at Texas. Today, BSU\'s WR coach, who had left to become OC at Indiana, returned to become BSU\'s OC. A coach doesn\'t hire an assistant if he doesn\'t expect to stay.

If it\'s true that Petersen is interviewing with Stanford, that\'s a serious expression of interest for someone who routinely turns down interviews/interest from other schools.
(The speculation among some worried Boise State fans is that the OC\'s return is actually an attempt to move to the front of the head coaching line in the event of a vacancy.)

Former Mt Tech coach Bob Green is available.

Quote: He would be the third coach in a row to leave Boise State with a sterling reputation. The first was Dirk Koetter, who went 21-28 in the Pac-10 over the next six seasons at ASU before getting fired. The second was Dan Hawkins, who went 19-39 overall at Colorado and 10-27 in the Big 12 over the next five. Success at Boise State, it appears, does not automatically translate to major-conference football.
garvin, you have a very interesting point but I think Peterson is different from Hawkins. Boise State Football
is Chris Peterson. Hawkins did a great job with Boise but he didn\'t establish it as a national power year in and year out.

Good stuff indeed. Â Stanford\'s players can handle this sort of offense, though it relies on a lot less of the power run game than we might be used to seeing. Â Wilkerson seems like a good RB to run those cutback plays (slightly more pop than Taylor, though Taylor could handle those too).

Rick Reilly had a piece on Green:

No guarantees on Petersen, of course -

However, you\'d have to say the probabilities of success are higher with someone who has shown he can be a winning head coach at the collegiate level than with a coordinator who has never had head coaching experience.

Some great points here except the spread. Â Harbaugh ran the spread at USD with Shaw. Â
Also remember how apalled some were when we hired Fangio and then for the 3-4. Â LOL
