That was a delicious game, though I had to laugh at the refs essentially indicating to Barnes, "We'll make sure you don't get 'homered.'"
And so impressed with the crowd--shirts for everyone, tickets $6-9--what's not to love?

Oregon's excuse was that their air-charter was cancelled and they had to take a game-day bus trip to Arizona to play the game, they arrived so late they even missed warm-ups. That would have discombobulated any team, but sorry Kelly Graves, this game was destined to be lost since the buzzer ended your last game with Arizona! Destined!

Yesterday’s OSU vs ASU game may have flown under the viewing radar, but had an unbelievable climax. If you thought that Graves and Barnes lost some of their luster a couple of weeks ago with all their finger pointing, check this out:
In the last minute of a 2 point deficit, Scott Rueck had a meltdown over a call and berated the ref who was standing next to him. The ref gave him a tech, which further enraged Rueck to the point of meltdown #2, followed by tech #2 and an ejection. While OSU's Loville (33 point) was making the four consecutive tech FTs, Missy had to walk Rueck down the sidelines to an awaiting security officer who accompanied him to the dressing room. Meanwhile the ASU team extended the score to 67-57 and a seemingly easy victory. On a day in which Rueck received a five-year extension to his contract, his players were left without a win or a role model!
Early in the season, I saw WSU coach Mary Ethridge cause her team to lose a very winnable game by losing her temper at the end of the game and getting teed up!
I can understand a coach getting a symbolic tech to show support for his/her team, but to lose perspective and cause a team loss from the bench is inexcusable.

I saw the end of that game and was just amazed at how Rueck destroyed his team's chance. And it brought to mind a comment that Tara made many years ago, that she has a personal policy of conducting herself so that she doesn't get a T unless there's a good reason for it, that will benefit her team. Not quoted quite right, but that was the gist of it.

Just watched replay of Arizona's convincing win vs. Oregon, then watched their OUR STORIES documentary.
Wow, that was a beautifully crafted retelling of their journey from their 6-win 2017-2018 season with Aari McDONALD sitting because of transfer rules to her leading the Wildcats all the way to the National Championship match vs Stanford 3 seasons later. Does Stanford have a similar documentary of their almost parallel journey from their 1986-87 season when Jennifer AZZI was a freshman all the way to winning their first National Championship 3 season later?
Also, just realized that Arizona starts 4 seniors Sam THOMAS, Kate REESE, Bendu YEANEY and Shaina PELLINGTON, who will all probably move on after this season. That's a big loss of experienced personnel; the good thing for them is that they have a great incoming freshman class consisting of 2 McD AAs in center Maya NNAJI (#9 overall with ESPN and #4 overall with Prospect Nation) and combo guard Paris CLARK (#21 overall with ESPN) as well as PG Kailyn GILBERT (#31 overall with ESPN) and Canadian SG Lemyah HILTON (#85 overall with ESPN). Their top returning personnel will most likely be led by center Lauren WARE, forward Koi LOVE, and guards Helena PUEYO and Madison CONNER.

I happened to see this article and it's certainly appropriate for this thread.
As noted, this game was a big deal to Arizona. The Arizona Daily Star had a good sized write up about it, linked below. And about two-thirds of the way down, Adia Barnes has some nice words about Tara.

Much like us, Arizona loses most of its amazing perimeter defense next year. Thomas, Yeaney and Pellington are all great defenders. Pretty similar to us losing 2 Hulls and Wilson. I’m not sure who is “next” for Arizona. I think for us, Emma Nnopu will get a lot of playing time as our go to lock down defender.

Stuff like that just makes me so proud to be a Stanford fan--that our WBB program is a great program to watch but it is so much more than that--Tara sets the standards for leadership and ethics that get recognized by other coaches. The stories of Tara helping other coaches are legion. Also interesting the Adia says much the same about Dawn Staley, and I wonder about that remark that they do not recruit against each other. Not quite sure how to read that.

LOL, they didn't say, but it wouldn't surprise me. They listed some timeline. If memory serves, they got on a bus at 9 a.m., and arrived at the arena at 3 p.m. (so 5 hours, with the time difference).

I was channel surfing this morning. At the time I came across North Carolina versus Miami in the second quarter it was 33-2. I going to guess North Carolina's bench warmers got some playing time in this one.

Baylor and Texas are slugging it out. Texas with an 8 point lead in the 3rd.
Louisville dropped a c-note on the 'Cuse.
What happened to TN? They just lost by 19 to UCONN.
Maya turned in a double double for ND, but they lost by 5 to the Seminoles.
OR and ASU are in a low scoring battle. Ducks are up 27-24 about halfway through the 3rd.

Oregon at ASU was fun. Couldn't believe this was the same ASU team we saw last week. If the states of Oregon and Arizona ever go to war, they should consider recruiting Charli as a general...Kelly looked like he was about to have a heart attack.
