The lack of recruiting talk on the eve of Early Signing Day is amazing. It sounds like Booker is planning on signing early. Who else will sign in this period?

Yeah, it depends on what you want to use as your baseline. Is the baseline '13? Is it "are you replenishing or bettering your talent"? If so, then '18 looks like a solid if not better class. (With some caveats that you'd prefer more OL.)
On the other hand, if your baseline is "how good could this class potentially be?" then the class looks mixed. Different people can have different, valid perspectives.

Ralston had the super class in '65. Washington, Broughton, Shoemaker, Snider, DeLa Forrest, etc. The next class was considered poor. It did have a QB who got sick, was asked to change positions after redshirting and played so well in the Spring of 1968 that McKay's spies told him that the tall kid was going to be very good. He would not play DE.

Root and Nye came in '64 (class of '68). Nye was a multi-talented stud. Root was good but not great (except as a name to chant pornographically whenever he took the ball forward).

JR was a solid "3 yards and a cloud of dust" runner, and whenever he got a 1st down, "Root! Root! Root!" was chanted by us spectators, to our secret delight. The Aussies eventually picked up on this for their brand of "football" (how, I never know), and the quote below from an Aussie website might give you a hint....
"root vi. 1. To cheer for a sports team. Root is an offensive Australian slang verb meaning ``have sexual intercourse with''. Announcing to an Australian that you ``are a cheerleader, so you don't see many football games because you are in the stands rooting'' will give a misleading impression about your devotion to the team. 2. To grow roots. ``I rooted some plants'' is practised by vegiphiles in Australia. 3. To dig or rummage. ``I was rooting around in my room for the rent money'' is done only if an Australian does not actually have the rent money.
n. An Australian may take the noun to refer to his or her sexual partner. Even so, saying ``I tripped over a root'' will occasion only the tiniest frisson of delight in your Australian correspondent; he or she will understand."

Root was a brilliant student, a wonderful guy, and an absolute sledgehammer as a fullback. And, his nickname was, of course, "Jack My." True story.

Fox is a big big get. Top 300 player. Offers from basically all the relevant southeastern schools. Had 18 sacks in 8 games as a junior.
EDIT heres his high school coachs review:
Cottrell, a one-time assistant at both Florida State and Alabama, said Fox's talents remind him of some of the defensive linemen he coached at those schools.
"He's one of the best high shcool players I've ever coached," Cottrell said. "He's a lot like guys we had at Florida State who played defensive end. I think he'll be an outstanding college player. He's also an outstanding student. He'll do well in a college environment. I think Stanford got an outstanding student."

Between Booker and Fox, after many years of trouble, the defensive line is finally starting to look to be in decent shape, assuming players pan out reasonably well. Over the last three years, we have:
2016:
Michael Williams 4* DT (RS)
Thomas Schaffer 3* DE (RS)
Bo Peek 3* DT (RS)
2017:
Ryan Johnson 4* DE (RS)
Dylan Wade Perry 4* DT (RS)
2018:
Andres Fox 4* DE
Thomas Booker 4* DE
That's a pretty strong core over three years, which suggests that barring attrition, we should be in very good shape in 2019, and great shape by 2020. Even next year we should have decent depth, even if it is mostly inexperienced and unproven (assuming Phillips leaves; if he stays, look out!)
