Re: Class of 2015 - OutsiderFan - 02-28-2014

Trent Irwin in Rivals story: I love Stanford.

That said, he's also considering Cal and possibly others.

Re: Class of 2015 - Fresbone - 02-28-2014

I suspect that if a player did not continue to develop on the field, he would coincidentally not be admitted, even if he had received an early offer.

OL Henry Roberts -- from David DeCastro's high school -- got offered by Stanford today: https://twitter.com/BellevueFB/status/439598374241583104

Re: Class of 2015 - socalstanfan1 - 03-01-2014

Foes anyone know when our first junior day is scheduled? I'm guessing if we get any early commits they are likely to start soon after that visit.

Re: Class of 2015 - slide - 03-01-2014

not sure if it is an official JR Day or not, but we have 6 or 7 offerees and others on campus this weekend

Re: Class of 2015 - PrinceLightfoot - 03-01-2014

I believe yesterday was the first Junior Day per several tweets.

Re: Class of 2015 - OutsiderFan - 03-01-2014

Someone needs to update the Stanford Football Twitter account to say:

2013 Pac-12 Champions
4 Straight BCS Bowl Games
4 Straight 11+ Win Seasons
25 Bowl Appearances
62 First Team All-Americans

Okay, somebody is obviously reading this board...

It's almost as if they are paying attention...  Good for them.

Stanford's social media presence, as you might expect, is actually very good.

I do not think Stanford will offer anyone but GT Granato (most likely an insurance policy) and Ricky Town (already offered) at Qb. Josh Rosen has said multiple times that he would have signed with Stanford after Junior Camp had they offered. I know some will say: Stanford offers people late because of academics. This is true, but the offer to Town if very telling. If Stanford takes a quarterback this year, it will be the best or none. This also underscores their absolute confidence in Keller Chryst as the future at QB. We need to go hard after Iman Marshall and finally get some A+ recievers.

*cough* Ryan Burns *cough*

I'm curious. How do you judge this. By quantity? Quality? Impact? I enjoy the Stanford football newsfeed in my Facebook account and I see the tweets on SFGate.com. But I don't know how many people follow them relative to other schools or whether they're driving any kinds of behavior. The fact that they hadn't updated their Twitter page until someone on the Cardboard pointed out is was dated kind of shows to me that they're not on top of their game.

I judge it by comparing to other sports teams on twitter, instagram, etc. Stanford's stuff is usually much more multimedia (we make good use of Vine, Instagram) and occasionally clever (whereas most corporate accounts are never that). So I don't have any metrics; I'm just judging on content.

Canton Kaumatule, thespian (he's Benny Southstreet in Guys and Dolls): http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college-football/news/20140304/inside-read-baylor-malik-mcdowell-melvin-gordon/?eref=sihp (pg. 2)

Re: Class of 2015 - CardinalSinner - 03-05-2014

You mean Ryan "It sucks to be between Chryst and Hogan" Burns? Also, I want Bryce Love, 3rd best RB in the nation in my opinion.

Re: Class of 2015 - washingtonismoney - 03-05-2014

Apparently have offered the position-of-need and wonderfully-named DT Rex Manu from Hawai'i. https://twitter.com/SLKalani/status/441351073563803648

We're inching ever closer to an all-Island DL.

Quote:"My vision as a student-athlete is to attend a major university which will inspire and challenge me as I obtain my Bachelors degree in the field of chemical engineering. While it's a football player's dream to play and excel in the NFL, I believe that the objective at this point in my life is to STUDY, work hard on and off the field, help others in the community and represent my family, coaches, teachers and mentors in a positive light. The gridiron breaks a player down and with great coaching, rebuilds that player into something even greater...a part of something bigger.  This is why I have a strong desire to play and pursue football at the next level!  Being an out of district student/athlete has meant less sleep, better time management and has taught me the meaning of perseverance, but has been well worth the effort and sacrifice.  Coaches, thank you for taking the time to view my profile!"

Sounds like a Stanford guy to me.

Re: Class of 2015 - OutsiderFan - 03-06-2014

Looks like a David Parry clone in terms of body type.  Has quick feet and gives full effort.

More like Keller "it sucks to be in the class after Ryan Burns" Chryst.

Re: Class of 2015 - yvonne - 03-06-2014

Considering that both Nottingham and Nunes were top 10 quarterbacks, I'm not putting my money on either one just yet.
