Interesting comments by Lynne Roberts, especially regarding NIL:

LSU coming at players with buckets o'money. Whoda thunk? Oh, wait...

I agree that the University wishes it would all go away. I am not so sure I agree that the University needs to "find a way to make this work". First, it is unclear that NIL can be "made to work" without unintended consequences that the University really doesn't want. As many on this board have pointed out, the time may come, perhaps sooner than we all would want, that the University will simply decide college athletics as it exists today is incompatible with the goals of the University.
IMHO nobody knows what the "end state" on this issue is going to be. Athletes as University employees is one possible outcome, among others. It is going to be a rough ride for many institutions to go from where we are now to where this situation stabilizes. In an ideal world, the Universities would attempt to design an outcome that preserves the "collegiate" part of NCAA athletics. Unfortunately, that just isn't going to happen, and what does happen may indeed remove athletics from many colleges. Figuring out how to keep NIL from destroying team chemistry is indeed a significant issue, but IMO only one of many that can crash the entire system.

If any of you watched the USA 3x3 World Cup matches, you saw the incredible teamwork between Van Lith and Brink, after only a couple of weeks of practice. You also saw a bond develop between them.
It wasn't to be, but one can only imagine what a game-changer it would have been had Hailey went for the Stanford option.
Hailey Van Lith reveals Stanford was an option before she transferred for LSU (msn.com)

Wow, would have never guessed VanLith to Stanford. What graduate school program would she have been accepted into. We could have desperately used her talents.
In the previously linked article, Adia Barnes mentions, kids making 100/200/300K by transferring schools. I wonder what LSU offered VanLith. Apparently LSU is another level for their collective and NIL money. Just crazy. Louisiana is also one of the poorest states in the nation... where does that money come from....

It’s been posted around $450K for Van Lith of course some could be before LSU
I too would love to know what grad program Van Lith applied to at Stanford

As they say, it just means more. And, in ways both good (I suppose, but don't ask me to list them) and bad, it does.
In many sports, especially revenue sports, it's now the SEC (especially if you include OU dnd Teas, which you should) and the wannabes.
Not the way I woild like it. But, as Walter Cronkite used to say, that's the way it is.
Sigh.
It was fun while it lasted.

The fact that she says she considered it doesn't mean she was admitted, right? For all we know, she basically thought, "well, they would've admitted me to undergrad, so I'm sure they will admit me again" and that was how much she considered it. I also feel like Tara already announced we wouldn't be adding any players from the transfer portal before Van Lith decided, so I'm guessing even if she "considered" it, she didn't consider for very long...

I am encouraged that the 2nd transfer will no longer be automatic. Let's hope the new rules and the ending of the COVID year will tame down the revolving door.
As for Von Lith to Stanford, my guess is that the complexity and difficulty of transferring into Stanford was just too much. It sounds as if this will become easier for a limited number of players.
In short, I think we are at the nadir for WBB at Stanford, and that times may look better in a year or two. Of course, hard to know if TVD will still be coaching then after then changes take hold.

The nadir does not mean that times are bad, but that they won't get any worse than they are. I think the two big changes that are coming will be helpful for Stanford WBB: expiration of the COVID year and tightening up on double transfers.
