Not being snarky BC but I’m semi retired and can’t find enough time. Three acres in the forest keeps me busy. Matt must be like Charlie Rose before the fall from grace. Slept two hours a night, every night. No wife, many “girlfriends.” A Dookie.

As somebody whose other hobby is gardening and patio beautification and has a modest urban plot to tend, I can easily see how three acres would eat up all the time!
My (not so) secret is that I use these message boards as an outlet to a) procrastinate on work projects (which, yes, can sometimes mean night and weekend work) and b) to get my analytical juices flowing before I need to dive into a professional project. I know I'm an odd duck, as my one wife regularly reminds me, but don't think I'd be who I am or could do what I do, such as it is, were I any other way. To thine own self be true!

Per 247's recruiting page, Stanford has made 90 scholarship offers for the Class of '23. I don't remember ever seeing a number like that. Maybe Shaw & Co are catching up with the times. Do we have a sense as to whether all offers are commitable in the current environment? And do all offers remain commitable so that recruits can still defer the decision until admitted if they choose?

My count is at 89, and indeed 247 lists PWO P Aidan Flintoft as a scholarship offer. I believe they have 1 or 2 guys listed as having offers that don't, and are missing 1 or 2 guys that do have offers, but net and net 89 is the correct number. Indeed, this is the most we've seen in the last 10 years, and my guess is we'll probably see a couple more over the summer as is typical towards the end of a cycle.
All offers are technically committable unless a player's grades slip, he doesn't take requisite classes, or he genuinely no longer looks like a FBS-level football player anymore later on (which is rare but does happen). At least half these guys are already off the board and not considering us anymore; most are due to gravitation towards football powers or closer-to-home schools, and some are possibly due to grades. The real number of "in play" prospects at this point is probably more like 30-40. My guess is at any one point there are a couple more "in play" guys than open spots at a particular position, which generally works itself out as we get closer to signing day.
I don't have a gauge for how "good" this class will be overall, but I can for sure tell you it will be large and address all positions again. There wouldn't be nearly 90 offers otherwise.

It's nice that Shaw & Co have realized that it's okay to make more offers than there are spots at a given position. As you say, that works itself out in the end and allows for larger classes that address all needs. My sense is that the quality of the class hinges in no small part on whether Shawvita can land Lonergan. He seems like an elite QB, which Stanford needs pretty badly. As of now, I am assuming McKee will enter the NFL draft next Spring, leaving Patu and Daniels as the only scholarship QBs on the roster for 2023. I don't necessarily think Lonergan would start as a true freshman, but Stanford absolutely needs a third QB on the roster that year and it would be nice to finally land another elite player at the game's most important position. Although McKee arrived in 2020, Shawvita hasn't landed a 4-star QB recruit (let alone a QB at Lonergan's level) in the last 4 classes.

Stanford's June official visits are coming up. Looks like Longergan, Lyons, Etta, Clegg, and Su'a will all be there, along with a number of other priority recruits. That weekend really has to go well for Shaw and Stanford to get some positive momentun for the football program. The last thing we need to see is a bunch of new offers coming out in July.
