We won't know about whether Iowa's achievement is sustainable or not until after Clark leaves. Much the same was said about Adia Barnes and Arizona after they made it to the national final and came within a point of victory. Would Arizona build a dynasty or was it too dependent on Ari McDonald? Maybe the jury is still out on Arizona, but their trip to the near-top has not so far resulted in a dynasty--they went from being a top team to a merely good team after their star left.
I wouldn't be terribly surprised if Cal's Curry, who is in the portal, winds up at Arizona. She's not quite as quick as McDonald, but she can really shoot. I read here that she had a 4.5 gpa in hs, so maybe we could be another option.
Arizona has a highly ranked / McDonalds All American PG, Jada Williams, in their 2023 class. Fellow highly ranked 2022 guard, Paris Clark, just transferred out from Arizona. Not sure that’s a situation Curry would want to transfer in to.
I thought Curry played mainly sg.

Just about the end. Interesting/contrasting player/coach reactions from LSU side -- Mulkey crying, emotion at winning. I actually give her credit for that, showing it means something to her. But Reese? No class at all, looking at Clark and waving her finger that's about to get a ring, taunting her. Reese, a great player, not a great person based on that.

Well she would be a PG if she transferred to Stanford which is my hope because you need guards who are a threat to score off the dribble to win a national championship.

The PAC-12 may not have been able to get any team into the National Championship, but we were at least able to send a ref who could determine the winner…

I don’t know why anyone would cheer for Mulkey and her antics. Her history is well documented and her team this year is one of the cockiest I’ve ever witnessed.
It almost befuddles me why players continue to chose to play for her. I think she’s a good coach but to anyone who follows, she’s had a very controversial coaching career.
All I keep thinking is, where in the world does she buy her clothes??

i kept wishing they would t up mulkey for repeatedly standing 4 feet on the court while iowa was trying to run its offense.
usually i think commenting on mulkey's clothes is sexist. today, however, i join the crowd. where do you get your suits?

all that said, quite an accomplishment to take a losing team to the championship in 2 years. although easier in the transfer era.
lsu looked well-coached on both offense and defense. on offense: inside, 3s, and mid-range. i liked that she let morris take mid-range shot after mid-range shot.
for those who don't remember, mulkey won a national championship as a point guard at louisiana tech. she is like dawn staley and pat summit in being a college star before moving into coaching.

The refs didn't decide the national championship game.
I watched LSU and Miami throw up enough bricks to build a small house last Sunday. LSU shot 30% FG and 8% - yes EIGHT PERCENT - form 3pt range, and had 38 points after 3 quarters.
Against Iowa, they had 59 at half, shot 54% FG and 65% from 3 on their way to 102 points, making 11-17, a game after going 3-13 (23%). That kind of shooting fluctuation is just, I mean I have no words.
Give LSU credit for shooting lights out. If this was a 3-game series, odds are Iowa would win 2 of them. No team shooting 65% on 17 FGs from 3 is losing any single game. Reminds me of the Clippers beating the Grizzlies last week when they shot 22/37 from 3pt line.

I should note that, as far ranging as Mulkey was, Coach Yo probably spent more time, and often much further out on the court, in our Ole Miss game. Must be okay per Local Rule in the SEC… :-)
As for the technical, I agree it was pretty ticky-tack, given that nasty elbows to the neck area were deemed okay on at least two occasions. That being said, I think it’s possible that the technical was based on a delay of game infraction, as I think Iowa had been given a warning earlier in the quarter when Cinzano knocked a ball into the stands following a made 3. The announcers were busy yammering about something else, but there was a whistle and brief stoppage that was never explained, and on the replay of the shot you could see her knock the ball into the crowd after it dropped through the net. It was stupid of Clark to do what she did, but I think (although I may be wrong) that a second such infraction by anyone on the team results in a T.

I admit I turned it off after Clark’s third foul. Sadly by WBB standards this wasn’t close to the worst we have seen. But I wasn’t willing to stick it through as a neutral today.

Excuse my posting before reading other game or post-game posts, but I didn’t want my comments to be a reaction to someone else’s impression.
History was made in the Women's Final Four today and I think the results were good for women’s basketball. There were great story lines than came to fruition — Clark did not disappoint, Reese came through, Mulkey was Mulkey, and a riled up team from Louisiana defeated a highly touted team from Iowa. The referees kept the teams actions between the lines, ie the rules. Sure, there were controversial calls, but they didn’t change the results dramatically. LSU were inspired, and it would have taken an even more heroic effort by Iowa to win it.
It was fun not to have a skin in the game. I was in awe by the stellar play of both team, and I was able to overcome my usual disdain for Mulkey and enjoy her players stepping up in the big one and winning. Also, as I reflected on the Stanford Women's Basketball Team I see that they will have a brobdingnagian challenge if they want to be competitive in the coming years. I think that we have seem our sport sprout wings and become something beyond what we could have imagined. We are seeing fire power, players freed-up to play the game, and the expression of enormous confidence. The sport will be more exciting for it!l

Clark was again the best player on the court with 30 points and 8 assists, but LSU had THREE players with at least 20 points and five in double digits.
