I hope it's true. We desperately need WR (both Francis Owusu and Michael Rector will be graduated, not to mention our no.1 receiving target, Christian McCaffrey, has high potential of entering the 2017 nfl draft).
It's still early, and we need one badly.

He's posted similar tweets for other programs. UCLA still leads for Black. I'd be more enthusiastic for St. Brown.

Yeah, given that it hasn't been reported widely, I am guessing he was just showing us a little love, but not actually committing.

Is this really a possibility, or just a kid trying to look like he's smart by saying he's looking at Stanford?  He does have a Stanford offer, but I'm pretty skeptical when a Top 5 is Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Oregon and Stanford.

Anybody's guess, but I think there is a lot bigger possibility that he is really interested than there would have been, say, 10 years ago.

From history, we are on most of the kids' final list whoever we offered.
From final list to at least a verbal commit, there is an of exceedingly large proportions gap. Especially for top recruits.

Even though the class will be on the small side, Stanford would seem to be in the running for several 5 star recruits.  It seems Mills is a lock and Holmes will come if admitted.  Okudah seems pretty unlikely.  I have no sense for Davis or McBride at all.  Per the post below, OT Foster Sarell seems high on Stanford, so I've added him.

Anyone want to handicap them with percentages?

QB Davis Mills (Stanford commit that could be elevated to 5 stars)
DB Darnay Holmes
OG Wyatt Davis
OT Foster Sarell
DB Jeffrey Okudah
LB Nate McBride

Getting 2-3 of these guys would be recruiting at a national championship level, because you don't get that many 5 stars without a good number of 4 stars and highly regarded 3 stars.

Foster Sarell is a 5 star and the #1 rated OT in the country. He has Stanford written all over him. I'd say the odds are 80/20 for The Farm.

I just read that McBride has a 3.9 GPA, so it does seem he is at least a possibility.  Still, I really don't understand a Top 5 of Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Oregon, and Stanford.  One is not like the others.

It's a strange combo for a kid from Washington, but I wouldn't say "One of these is not like the others." That one could just as easily be Oregon because of the style of football they play. Other than the southern schools, they have nothing in common.

I don't think it seems strange. In general, whether a football player or a non-athlete, kids are more likely to stay close to home for college. It isn't odd that he'd be looking at the best football schools close to home, then throw in two great options away from home. In my freshman dorm alone, I can think of a dozen people who chose Stanford over second choices in their own backyards.
