That is one U-G-L-Y Trojan hat - Redrum - 03-26-2015

Hope KJ has good taste.

Wouldn't mind if Costello has some pull with his teammate.

Demetris Robertson congratulated Costello and asked him to follow him back on Twitter.

Re: Class of 2016 - washingtonismoney - 03-26-2015

Curtis Robinson also extended congrats.

I know we go off-topic here a lot, but this is pretty damn off-topic. Did you link the wrong tweet?

Well, Yo-Yo Ma has to do a lot recruiting for his Silk Road Project, and the SRP and Stanford Program on International and Cross-Cultural Education (S.P.I.C.E.) co-developed a middle school curriculum called "Along the Silk Road." And this is pretty cool:
http://virtuallabs.stanford.edu/silkroad/SilkRoad.html

But, as far as I can tell, the curriculum has nothing to do with sports.

Other schools might offer a bunch of QBs at once, but either they're honest to the recruit and tell them where they are in the pecking order, or they lie and then have to deal with the consequences. I'm pretty sure U$€ did the former with Costello - I seem to remember him saying that U$€ weren't recruiting him as hard early on as they were going after Shea Patterson, but once Patterson made his mind up about going elsewhere U$€ were back on Costello hard.

I think Harbaugh had the problem of trying the latter approach with Kain Colter - Colter was committed but then Nottingham committed to Stanford too, and Colter basically was pushed out. I'd rather Stanford continue to recruit backup plans and just say that we like some other guy a little bit better right now, but if he goes elsewhere then we'll offer you immediately.

The worst situation is when an offer isn't committable. This happened with Brandon Dawkins a couple of years ago - Brian Kelly gave him an offer but then was holding out for a commitment from a higher ranked QB, so ND literally didn't answer Dawkins' phone calls when he was trying to commit to them. (Dawkins ended up at Arizona.) I hope we never hear about Shaw pulling crap like that.

I remember when my boys were being recruited (different sport) the coaches and each school were ridiculously up front with them, to very small details.  My oldest knew every single player who was ahead of him and right behind, knew the commitment timeline, his role if he was offered, strengths and weaknesses.  he knew how every admissions group felt about him, he knew players on every one of the teams.  Not a single coach lied, misdirected or exaggerated and the one who slow-played him told him "I'm slow-playing you because I need to get these two guys first, then I can get you."  Same story for my youngest who made up his mind to follow his older brother and cut short any other conversations.

Re: Class of 2016 - TrumpCard - 04-01-2015

Junior Day will be a good initial indicator of interest.  I know there are a lot of guys coming, but here is a list of some who appear to be coming based on publicly available sources.  (FWIW: Not one of these guys lives closer than Texas, and Junior Day is an unofficial visit, so these guys are all paying for a plane ride.)  Feel free to add if you know of more guys coming.

WR: Imatorbhebhe
OL: Yarbrough
TE: K. Smith
DL: Peek, M. Williams
LB: Simms
DB: Eboh, B. Brown

Re: Class of 2016 - yvonne - 04-01-2015

He retweeted a message from Josh Imatorbhebhe about an offer from the University of Stanford #cardinals.

We've really got to start recruiting against that team. They seem to get a lot of guys we want.

Re: Class of 2016 - yvonne - 04-01-2015

After a double check, I discovered that the Imatorbhebhe tweet is from Feb 4, but the Crawford retweet of it was done today.

Does anyone know if Curtis Robinson (4* Athlete/LB from Santa Ana) is coming this weekend.  The tease at Rivals said he plans to visit Stanford "soon" but provides no date.

according to Twitter reports, 4* DE Carlo Kemp and 3* WR Simi Fehoko visiting

Re: Class of 2016 - OutsiderFan - 04-02-2015

I'm going out on a limb and calling Fehoko my biggest Stanford lock of the 2016 class among the uncommitted, with Garrett Rand a close second.
