Could someone knowledgeable on the rules explain the ruling on the play in the 6th inning, just before Bowser's home run, when the UCLA catcher tried to throw the ball to third base trying to catch the runner trying to steal the base, but the throw hit Bowser's bat while he was standing in the batter's box, allowing the runner to score. The announcers seemed sure it was interference, but the call was no interference.

Pretty sure the batter has the right to stay put.

Rule 6.03 (a) (3) - A batter is out for illegal action when he interferes with the catcher’s fielding or throwing by stepping out of the batter’s box or making any other movement that hinders the catcher’s play at home base.
Bowser was a statue on that play. He was still. I guess the home plate umpire determined that Bowser had made no movement that could be judged as interference.

That’s what I thought, but the announcers kept saying “ I don’t see how that isn’t interference.” The only issue with the ups seemed to be whether the rubber on first was entitled to go all the way to third.

Man, there is definitely a NSFW joke that could be made with that typo/autocorrect.

Rubbers usually end up going beyond third. That's my experience, anyway.

but rubbers have been known failing to score when thrown out at home.

Still looking for someone, anyone, who can pitch the mid-week game. Although we did get 2 1/3 scoreless innings from Jensen.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry. At one point, we led this game 9-1. It'a now 10-6, and O'Rourke has put the first three batters on base, the last two by plunking them.

Depends on how you count Mathews.
